The third annual International King Kong Grip Challenge will be held again this fall on October 24th.

· 2.5” Crusher (FBBC)

· Shallow Hub (World of Grip)

· 2” V-Bar (FBBC)

Weight Classes:

· Men: 59kg / 66kg / 74kg / 83kg / 93kg / 105kg / 120kg / 120+kg

· Women: Open

Prizes:

· Medals for the top three finishers in each class

· Medals for the top lift in each event

· Award for the overall champion plus the title of "The King Kong of Grip"

Confirmed venues and promoters so far:

· Ottawa, Ontario, Canada - Eric Roussin

· Detroit, MI - Andrew Pantke

· NY - Cesare Ricchezza

· Marthasville, MO - Luke Wicks

· Finland - Juha Harju

· Ukraine – Igor Kupinckiy

A few other promoters are tentative. Anyone else interested in hosting a venue, please send me a PM or contact me by email at eroussin@rogers.com
for more information.

Stay tuned for more details...

One-Hand Pinch -- whatever the standard height is (I'm not exactly sure)

Crusher - 8" lift (to be confirmed)

Shallow Hub - 13" lift

V-Bar - 2" lift

Awesome really looking forward to this comp.

The standard height for the Euro is 16.5 inches

^The bar is indeed set at 16.5 inches, but the lift is less because the pipe that holds the plates (and that needs to reach the bar) runs through the middle of the discs. So I think it works out to close to a 9" lift or so.

Question....how deep and wide is the shallow hub??

I remember the one at the NYG3 event , the hole was the same but half of what you grab.

I think it was around 1/8th

If you go to David's site you can see it.

S/F,

CEYA!

Sand your IM hub and add cardboard rings to make your hub more shallow, works nice

The Shallow Hub is 3" wide (like the IronMind Hub), but only 0.75" deep, as opposed to 1.25".

Sorry for the dumb question. Is the 2.5 Crusher a gripper like COC 2.5 and if so what does FBBC ?

its like a rolling thunder handle but made by Fat Bastard Barbell Company (FBBC). its a one handed thick bar deadlift.

I just realized the 2.5 crusher is a 2.5 inch diameter handle and you lift it 8 inches high for the complete lift, right. The gym in Mahopac,NY near Chez last meet was is one of the locations will be if Chez still wants it there.

Cool, thanks for the lesson, but this handle doesn't roll right like rolling thunder.

It does roll. In fact I hear it rolls even more than the rolling thunder. The handle is solid steel so it weighs a lot.

What is the base weight of the Euro at 48mm? I am off that day. It will be a 4-hour drive to the Missouri location. But the chance to catch up with Josh and Luke and meet some new people is too good to pass up.

^Best to follow up with Luke directly for this, as they many of the Euros vary depending on the materials used to construct them. Mine weighs 50 lbs at 48mm, but I can swap out the metal pipe for a PVC pipe to lower the weight if necessary.

How does it work with the weight categories? If I’m 75 kg do I compete with the 74 or 83 kg category? Thanks in advance.

83kg. If you are above the 74kg.

I usually teeter totter right on the edge of those two classes myself, and cut down a few pounds to make the 74.
