Tim's "road To Gold" Bending Log

Okay,

I'm going to try to keep a bending log.

Tonight was decent.

Show pad bends:

3 40d nails

2 griprite 60ds

2 Mazel 60ds

1 tough shiny 60d

1 tough green Sivaco

1 "purple" 9/32 x 6.5 inch CRS

1 "Brown" 19/64 x 6.75 inch CRS in IMPs

7mm by 7 inch CRS with leather pads. Under 1 minute

2 more Sivico 60ds.

3/8 by 8 3/8 inch HRS with ironmind pads with a smaller layer of cordura added. PR.

Tried a "bronze" 11/32 by 7 11/16 CRS with above pads which would have been a PR. Got stuck at 5 degrees. Wrapped a little more cordura and finished the bend in about 10 minutes.

Much ISOs on a gold nail, tough 3/8 CRS and 7/16. Not much more than small kinks.

Don't normally bend 2 nights in a row but I was cutting some steel and couldn't help it. Not a heavy workout but just a little session to help toughen the hands. Oddly, hands felt good even after a pretty heavy session the night before.

Bent all in suede "show pads":

1 timber tie

2 griprite 60ds

2 Mazel 60ds

1 tough shiny 60d

1 grade 5 bolt

2 "Brown" 9/32 by 6.5 inch CRS.

All felt good and no pain this morning.

Just re-read the first night's bends and the 7mm was a CRS square bar.

Saturday 6/14

Show wraps.

Various pole barns and 60ds.

Triangle G5

JH G5

"purple" 9/32 by 6.5

Then went for the gold nail in doubles (leather and cordura) - Nothing.

Went for the 470 pound calibrated 3/8 by 8 3/8 inch in above wraps. Got it well past 90 degrees and gave it a half hour fight but ran out of juice. Should have went for the 435 batch but I got greedy.

Ended with a 3/8 HRS bar in IMP's with 1/2 a wrap added. Got it in a couple minutes. I think I videod it as well but can't remember right now.

Couple nice PR's tonight.

Warmed up with various 60ds.

Then hit a 9/32 by 6.5 inch.

Went straight for the 3/8 by 8 3/8 inch #435 CRS bar. Got it and on video in about 3 to 4 minutes with double wraps - note to self - heavier suede with cordura added.

Then went for my time record on the 11/32 by 7 11/16 in IMP's with cordura added. Got it in about 4 minutes. Bar rated at 515 at 7 inches.

Finished with 5/16 #415, 19/64, 9/32 and 17/64.

Good day.

Eric,

Probably 185 to 187 now. I've been eating better but I've put on some muscle so as I'm losing a little fat, I'm picking up a little muscle as well.

New PR. #470 3/8 by 8 3/8 inch in #1 double wraps. Took a 1/2 hour or so but this is the same steel that beat me 8 days ago so I'm stoked.

Forgot to post my workout for last Sunday night. Kinda went light because shoulders were achy feeling.

Did volume with 60ds and G5s and ended with a 5.5 inch Lawson high strength bolt.

Been re-doing my basement and took time off. Will hit more this week. Last workout on 07/26/2014 didnt' go well. Only kinked the gold and felt bad all around.

Finally got a workout in.

Hit 6 or 7 progressively tougher 60ds then hit a 5/16 70d.

Then started the video and hit a 5/16 by 10 inch spike as a warmup and went right into a 3/8 by 10 inch spike unbraced.

All in all not a bad workout. Hit a 5/16 by 6 inch G2 bolt which was surprisingly tough and a few more cool down bends.

Terrible session last night. Worst in as long as I can remember. Nothing felt right and it was like I had somebody else's hands.

All I managed to bend was several 60ds, a G5 and a 1/4 inch by 6 inch G8 that EJ sent me.

Failed on a ton of stuff. Only halfway impressive thing I did was get a noticable kink in a 3/8 by 10 inch O-1 drill rod.

Good thing is I won't have to rest very many days because I didnt' bend anything tough.

Okay missed a few posts.

Last night was a thin pad volume night to toughen the hands. All bends done with my most severe small show suede pads.

About 10 progressively tougher 60d nails.

JH G5 #400 bolt

JH G8 #465 bolt. New PR for these scrawny pads.

LE premium #485 G8 bolt. Another new PR.

Cool down with couple more G5s and several 60ds.

Another volume workout last night. Much higher volume about 30 pieces of steel overall.

About 15 progressively tougher 60d nails

3 G5 bolts

1 G8 bolt all in my thinnest pads.

Several more 60d nails.

Switched pads to my "slightly thicker" show pads.

Got a #395 70d in record time

Got a #415 70d in record time.

A few more tough 60ds and G5 bolts.

Added a little cordura:

#445 pound 70d

Different brand #445 70d.

Switched wraps to a slightly thicker suede and cordura wrap. Big mistake - too slick.

#520 pound 70d. Long fight and got it to well under 90 and had to stop.

After that long fight my hands were so cooked I tried a medium 60d and couldn't move it.

Need to rest up.

7 inch by 5/16 G5 bolt. Triangle. Got it to about 40 degrees and ran out of gas.

1 Red nail

11/32 by 7 inch #515 bar. New 7 inch calibrated PR.

5/16 by 7 inch #420 bar.
