Pain In The Hand

Hi!


Has been training grip training for a while now and trained by the KTA program.

Have got hurt in the hand, right hand. I'm right-handed.


It is in the marked area it hurts, even with CoC No. 1.


Have had it for two weeks now and not practiced grip at all.

I can train the finger extension without pain and then I use



Shall I continue to rest the hand or what should I do?


Sorry for the bad english but I hope you understand what I am writing and what I mean,.... I'm from Sweden :D

I had similar pain in that area under the same program. It was the over crush's that was the problem for me. It lasted for a while. When you over crush, the muscles in between the fingers (adductor muscles) are under tension far longer than they are used to with normal gripper training.

I wasn't great with rehab back then; blood flow exercises and such. The contrast baths weren't enough for me. So, I just rested for a while.

But now I would look to do some light exercises with some rice in a bucket, or a sponge. Using your fingers to squeeze together (adductor muscles) for blood flow.

Yep I got the same thing doing negatives with a 3.5. Rest worked for me.

Warm up with relatively easy extensor band on all fingers. Take the same or one step easier band, put it on thumb and pinky only, fan out your hand for 5 reps, switch hands. Then move to the next finger.

Rest and have contrast baths and tiger balm to help the affected area - these helped me get over it.

I've suffered the same pains as well and they have set me back, but each time I come back stronger. The first time was the worst and in both hands. Be prepared for it to hurt for up to a couple months. Definitely rest up and stick to light work for a while.

I had real bad pain my hand from bending once. The steel dug deep into my palm. It was a heavy bar for me and I was using ironmind singles and I didn't have the bar positioned on the hard part of my palm (the bone). I was also way too stubborn so I pushed with everything I had. My palm was in pain for a while and I couldn't fully close two of my fingers since I def irritated a tendon. Contrast baths really helped speed up the recovery but it still lasted like 2-3 weeks. I did the contrast baths every night. Its a common thing in our sport. Not a real injury but irritation.

I have the exact same thing in my left hand, which developed during KTA. I've been trying to rest it for about 3 months now but it's really hard, the slightest thing and i can feel pain from it. like wringing out a dishcloth, or picking up moderately heavy things with an open hand pinch grip while working (not weights)

I think recovery will have been slowed down because I was still doing pinch work for a while after and wasn't realising it was putting a lot of stress on the knuckle. stopped all that now completely.

from reading this thread, looks like I should do contrast baths more frequently.

Yes, completely agree! Rest, rest, rest. Your muscles and tendons will thank you.

just curious, do you have pain with training thickbar or pinch, or just with grippers?

Hi!

Really sorry for the late replay, I been really busy. :(

I will try the contrast baths, extensor band and really light grip training and put some tiger balm on my hand and I hope it will help :)
