EJ Livesey
So if you could ask some of the greats and the performers like Pat P, Dennis R, Tommy H, Gazza, Chris R, Stanless, Slim, etc etc one or two questions what would they be? Get creative and be serious. I wanna know what you wanna know. Ok so maybe I should've been a little more specific when starting this thread. What types of training questions, motivational, lifting or mental strength questions would you ask. I'm not exactly looking to get personal with these questions. Durrs
I'd ask beside direct practice of your skill what one exercise or training tool carried over/helped you the most to your respective craft be it bending, grippers, axle etc..
Alawadhi
I'll ask what keeps on motivating you to continue what you are doing. I mean what REALLY motivates you? Cause only this I lack in training. Also, if you are really busy how do YOU manage it?
hogking18
I would ask Slim 2 questions the first being if he thought the bending, scrolling etc helped his leverage lifts or if the leverage lifts helped his bending and the second question would be as he got older what age did he think it started affecting his training and performaces? JoshW
Gazza- 1. How and why did you start? 2. What motivated you and got you through such painful bends? 3. How did you train? any accessory exercises?
Stephen Ruby
Gazza seems to have the most mystery around him so I'd ask (This might come off as dismissing an all time great and I have seen a few of his videos and they are something else but I'm a very skeptical person in general) 1. Why did you not enter a contest in your prime when you had chances such as the UK champion of steel in 2007 as well as several others? It would have been a perfect opportunity to prove beyond all doubt of where he were at the time. This is my reason for holding aarons bend as the best ever. 2. I've read that gazza would struggle relatively with 5/16 stainless when he could crush bend 5.5"x3/8 stainless. Why did he bend so slow? The speculation is you could be bending polished aluminum and he had to bend it slowly because otherwise it might risk breaking. Then why never weigh the steel in comparison to eliminate this thought 3. One thing that is really weird is he did enter a contest in 2006 where he bent somwehere between a 1/4 G5 and a 1/4 G8. Impressive how he just a year later would bend a 6"x3/8 303 stainless, a bar that is three times harder. How did you do something like this so quickly? This is what really blows my mind. None of this means he is not legit either they are just questions I have.
anwnate
Just like unexpectedly meeting a legend or star, my mind is a blank. I'm gonna do some serious thinking and get back to this thread.

Jose Cabrera
Honestly idk too much about most of these guys or their feats but one person really intrigues me from the group.... Tommy H. I would ask what his training looked like over the years. I know he is a very Christian man so i wont be asking about his motivations simply because it is quite obvious in the videos ive seen of him (very few btw). He seemed to have very good overall athleticism, that interests me. How he maintained such a high level of grip strength and yet managed to cert the 4 and red nail at a relatively low BW is kinda mind boggling. Does he attribute his abilities to good genetics (aka blessings), or was there a key factor to his training? Did he rotate things regularly or was there something that gave him a lot of bang for his buck? Thanks for taking the time for this kind of stuff EJ. richcottrell
I had put together a small list of questions, but I am now afraid EJ would consider many too "personal" so I will not put them up here. But I will say if your going through all the time and effort to personally contact and meet with these legendary benders, some personal questions might compliment what your doing with this project. Without taking up too many pages, some specific questions about the living legends’ personal journey through the trenches could add to the project. There are plenty of strong mother(bad word filter)ers who will either; never bend anything, or never get past the pain to bend big. It might not just be the nuts and bolts of training, but instead the more person things like motivation and mentorship that separate the ordinary from the extraordinary. That is just my opinion. It is obviously your book and your project. I will read it regardless, and I appreciate you reaching out to the community for questions. Here are some “less personal” ones: 1) Not all injuries are created equal. What was your most painful injury, and how did you work around it? How long did it last? 2) Injuries happen. How do you decide if an injury needs professional medical attention vs self-treatment? 3) What is the best bending related advice you’ve ever received? FJM
Don't know if this is too personal but somehow i think it relates to motivation. This could be asked from all of them but especially i am thinking Slim here. Did you ever consider trying some other aspects of strength world, like strongman competitions or powerlifting, or was it obvious that you had found your own thing? anwnate
Wow...spaced on this thread. I did have plenty of time to think on it the other day though. 1. What is the #1 trait/characteristic that separates you from an average...or even good bender? 2. What should the primary focus be for a beginning bender? 3. What is the best advice you could give to an advanced bender who wants to make it to the next level? 4. Have you ever injured yourself bending? If so, how did you recover from it? 5. If you no longer bend...what was the reason you stopped?
ZFJango
I would ask any of them what their training/bending routine would look like if they could go back to the beginning with all that they know now. Of particular interest to me would be any workouts or exercises that are non-standard which they felt contributed to their overall abilities to bend steel and other metals. I would specifically ask Gary Hunt about his isometric exercises.
