Grip Museum For The Grip Board!

I would like to officially announce that my Grip Museum is now the Official Grip Museum for

the Grip Board!!!

I want to thank Bill (wannagrip) and all the mods for making this happen and I would further

like to add that I will give 100% effort towards making this sub-forum successful as it can be

and to be a great learning tool and resource for all those interested in Grip History!

I've had this vision now going on a year and I've really put in a ton of work and spent a lot of money

to have this vision come to reality! The Grip Museum will only grow and get better over time!

I'm currently working on a post to act as a Grand Opening of this NEW sub-forum! It will

take me at least 2 weeks minimum to get this done and when I make this post you will instantly

know why it took so long! I'm using every spare minute I have right now to get this done but it will

be worth the time and effort! Please note that this is not to say you have to wait on my post to get started with

a new topic! Please do so if you so desire!

It's my hope that all GB members and staff are pleased with the decision to go with this sub-forum

and giving me the honor of allowing my Grip Museum to represent the BEST Grip Forum on the planet!

Very nice Joe! I especially like those grippers and certificate from Dennis Rogers!!! I know how large your museum is from your videos and I hope you will continue to post close up pics of individual pieces for all to see.

I am not sure how to post the image, Joe. I tried a couple of things within your post and it would not work for me.

Hey Joe,

You can delete my post above. I simply clicked on "more reply options" then I used the advanced photo uploader at the bottom. However with this post I used the basic uploader and it worked the same. Browse the locations and upload your pics and it attaches thumbnails. I don't know if this is what you are looking for or if you prefer the larger pics within the post?

Thank you very much for trying Jedd! I appreciate it buddy!

I think Brett might have nailed it!

  • 2 weeks later...

One week before the Sorinex Summer Strong event I got a small package in the mail from my

dear friend Richard Sorin. I was perplexed because I wasn't expecting any thing from him and he hadn't mentioned

a thing about this package.

When I opened the package it nearly knocked me over when I realized what Richard had given me as a gift for

our long time friendship, commitment, and passion for Grip! Below is several pics of one out of three of Richard's personal

RB World's Toughest grippers personally engraved for him marking his birth date. Richard had 3 RBWT's grippers made by Robert Baraban himself with the numbers of his birth date engraved on each handle and Sorin engraved on the other handle. One had 006 marking the month. Another had 026 marking the day (the one he gave me) and the third one had 050 marking the year he was born.

This gripper is without a doubt the most significant gripper ever given to me or purchased by myself for my collection and the museum! I can't think of a more significant gripper than this gripper being it was personally owned by Richard himself and if you'll notice in one of the images he signed the upper part on one of the handles.

Because of this amazing gift I'm am planning a slight remodeling of one of my Walls to properly display this gripper along with some pics to go along with the gripper. This gripper will always be the center piece of my collection and the museum. I will post a pic of the new remodel when I'm done!

Hope you enjoy the pics!!!

Thanks Bill and Bret!

This gripper is so meaningful to me and to come from a friend of over

2 decades that basically set modern day grip into motion is everything!

This is THE Gripper of all grippers in my view!

I have to wonder if anyone has a bigger collection? Maybe David Horne?

Another Grip Museum factoid:

Currently out of 276 torsion spring grippers, 111 are rated with more to be rated over time.

The highest current rating is a T10 @ 263 lbs. and the lowest current rated gripper is a COC Guide

coming in @ 32 lbs.

My goal is to have at least 200 of the grippers rated!

MORE Soon...

Where did that microgrip gripper come from? Funny little thing...

I made it in the late 80's.

I've never seen a smaller gripper!

It is really neat! I used to have a chain attached to it and wore it as a necklace!

Now it's retired to the Grip Museum!

UPDATE: There is now 121 rated grippers out of 276 TSG's!

Me and Cody rated 17 more grippers today but 7 of them was his own.

Well that's a pretty cool little piece! Made me think of a belt buckle with a tiny little gripper on it. Haha

Bill,

I haven't counted the exact number, but I don't think it rivals the numbers here, or even near.

I probably have a lot more pre WW2 grippers.

I just don't have anywhere near the number of modern torsion grippers.

Joe has quite a collection!

I have to wonder if anyone has a bigger collection? Maybe David Horne?

Joe,

That orange handled gripper featured in my book may be smaller. It's pictured on page 53 of my book.

It's a keyring gripper which has a small ‘keeper’ on it, manufactured 1960-1970.

You may be right David. I'm going to take a closer look buddy!

I like tiny grippers as much as large grippers myself!

I appreciate your very kind comments about my collection David! Means a lot coming from

a legend like yourself.

Thank You!

Here's a few pics of the most recent additions to the Grip Museum!

Hope you enjoy them!

Maybe David Horne can identify these grippers for me so I can properly label them.

From some of David's pics and written material in his Grip Encyclopedia Vol. 5

these may be Terry's Parallel Grippers. Just guessing here!
