Rgc Info Thread

I feel like some information regarding the RGC or "Redneck Gripper Calibrator" should be pinned in the equipment section, specifically this link:

Feel free to add any other relevant information about calibration.

Oh boy. We should try and dig up some of the existing threads. I know at least twice I (and others) have laid out some of the most important things to realize about RATING grippers.

I noticed you used the word "calibration" and we've definitely moved away from that.

Future of Rating Grippers

Good discussion about alternatives that account for more variables:

Rating Device - Equipment

This is the thread I was thinking about where I break down stuff from CPW's perspective.

Yeah, calibration doesn't make sense, but I was just using the term in the vernacular sense. Honestly, we could just change RGC to mean "Rated Gripper at Close" and keep the old abbreviation.

Anyway, I was looking specifically for the webbing width and whether the webbing goes at the bevel or end of handle and it was harder than necessary to find.

I've also started a few threads on here about rating devices that are pretty good I think.

We need to sticky one of them in an obvious place for future questions.

I guess the term calibration would be used if the gripper can be adjusted for strength (i.e. the Silvis adjustables could theoretically be calibrated) Really calibration should be applied to the different methods so that a comparison can be made across different methods and operators.
