Ab work

Thought I had a chance at the Golden, but it froze up after 2 hits. I took the wraps off to measure, and saw it was just over 35 degrees. I tried to get the wraps back on, but they collapsed and I couldn't get the bar back in. Next time, it will go down! This was my second time with the adjustable thick bar. 190 came up a little, and 185 was a solid lift. Going to work this until I can get 200lbs., and then I will analyze my program for it.

Very nice!!! 4 more degrees!!!

How do you like the ADj Thickbar? How does it compare to RT?

Thanks Mike! The Golden isn't as tough as the Bastard on the initial kink, but the beginning of the "sweep" for DU is a different story. It seemed to really ramp up at around 30 degrees.

I love the adjustable thick bar ... so far! 2 workouts in and I'm still watching YT videos to check others' techniques. But, a really awesome piece of equipment. And having FOUR different diameter handles is awesome! As compared to the Rolling Thunder ... it's a lot better, at least for my purposes. The RT is a piece of art in quality and appearance, but I hit my ceiling pretty quickly, and the output-input ratio just isn't worth it for me. I hate to complain about hand size, but my hand length at 7 3/8 makes it really tough to get good on the RT. With the ATB, there is no "excuse." I'd have to put in a ton of work to get to 150 on the Rolling Thunder, and I have too many other things going on for that.

And I did a quick experiment with the different diameter handles (middle two) when I was working the ATB the other day. Right around 160, I started to loose my grip with the bigger handle, but the smaller handle, the weight was still flying up. The different sized handles make all the difference in the world on this lift (at least for me), and I am confident that with the right amount of work, my lifts will go up. (I can't say that about the RT.)

This was my first time trying pulls off of blocks. They were only 2 inches high, but definitely altered the technique at the bottom, making the first few warmups a little awkward. I'm hoping to add a few things into the routine, to give me a better chance at reaching my long-term (5+ years now) goal of a 600lb. deadlift. Next up, though, is a triple-bodyweight pull of 585, which I think will fall before the end of the year.

The bench felt pretty strong today and I may have been good for another rep on the 300, but was alone and didn't chance it. Grippers felt pretty good too, after not having done them in awhile.

I won't be able to wear knee wraps for a few weeks, due to a new tattoo. I definitely felt the difference today without wraps, as I normally don't do any reps over 425 without them.

The 315 felt pretty solid. I might have been good for a fourth rep, but it would have been a grinder-type. I was doing some experimenting with feet position today, and had a solid 385 with the Slingshot. But the 405 wasn't even close. On my redemption attempt, I went back to the old setup, and got a solid rep.

Today was the first time I have ever done anything over 315 for reps on bench raw. The 320 was fast/solid on the first two reps, then had to fight the third up. The 405 rep with the Slingshot was a lot better than last week.

The 8 reps with the COC #2 was a PR ... previous best was 7. I've been backing off on grippers lately, but staying consistent, just less frequent. Kinda surprised at the progress.

I wanted to get 200 today on the adjustable thickbar, and came pretty close to a lockout. Added 5lbs. to prevent the mental thing with 200 and came close again. By the time I tried the horseshoe, my hands were hurting and I had a lot of trouble trying to sweep it, then just stopped.

The DU attempt was for a cert. today. Even though I got it to 25 deg., it stopped cold ... there was not going to be any more movement. Pretty happy with the progress on this bar, as a few months back, I barely got a few degrees with it. At this point, I think a 425-430 bar would fall; the 445 is pretty brutal!

The 340 was an all-time raw PR, at any bodyweight. I did 335, I think, when I was around 220. Weighed in today at 196.

The DU grade 8 is a PR, I think, with IMPs. It was nice to get the LP00 after having missed a few recently, especially to get one of these after a long, long day! Forearms are pretty fried now, but I'm looking to make another attempt at the N x 7 (445lb.) bar in singles soon.
