Detroit BBQ Grip Get Together

Date: Sunday – July 13th, 2014

Location:

Andrew’s Garage Gym

19820 Merriman Rd

Romulus, MI 48174

Open Class. Weigh in for Records purposes

Weigh In will begin at 8:00 AM

Rules at 9:30

Contest Start Time - 10 AM

Events

Events will be selected by you the contestants when you send in the entry form. Pick the top 3 events you want to compete in. Events will be selected in the order they are received. Your second and third choice will be used in the case that your number one has already been picked. Events will be locked 30 days before the contest in accordance with IGC rules. We will do up to 4 events.

Fully Sanctioned events available:

  • 2 Hands Pinch (Euro)
  • 1 Hands Pinch (Euro)
  • Double Overhand Axle (Ironmind)
  • 1 Hand Axle Deadlift (Ironmind)
  • Grippers Block Set 20mm
  • Grippers Credit Card Set
  • Grippers Table No Set
  • Hub Lift (Ironmind)
  • Little Big Horn (Ironmind)
  • Sledge Hammer Choke (12lb hammer)
  • Vertical Bar Deadlift 1” (FBBC)
  • Vertical Bar Deadlift 2” (FBBC)
  • One Hand Plateau Buster Deadlift (StrongerGrip)
  • Rolling Thunder (Ironmind)

All Normal NAGS Rules will apply. All events will be rising bar with 4 attempts.

SCORING: Grip Sport percentage based scoring will be used.

The best performance in the event is awarded 100 points. All other

lifters’ performances are divided by the best performance and then

multiplied by 100 for their score.

For example if Lifter A lifts 350 lbs and this is the best lift in

his/her division, he gets 100 points for his lift. If Lifter B lifts 320

lbs, his score is figured like so: 100 X 320/350 = 91.428.

Entry Fee is $10 to be paid to Andrew Pantke by paypal or mail. There will be the normal liability release form to be signed at the contest. I’ll be grilling bratwursts and hotdogs after the main events. My hope is this is more of a fun get together then a serious contest where you can hit an event that you’re already working on, and test your abilities on someone else’s favorite event.

I have to give a big thank you to Jedd and the IGC for their help in sanctioning so many events and in a new format. Jedd in particular did a lot of behind the scene work to sanction this.

Thank you.

Andrew, just a heads-up, but Rolling Thunder is no longer a sanctioned event.

Oh, when did that happen? Just curious.

Rolling thunder is out.

It happened roughly a week ago. We all agreed that because of the inconsistent performances resulting from its design(s) a list of top performances would lack relevancy.

That makes sense. Thank you

That was fast! I guess I better get training!

Also, do you need me to bring anything Andrew?

Bring any drinks you want and rated grippers you have. I'll cover the food and bottled water. I tried no setting last night and was hard pressed to get a 97lb gripper. Looks like I got some work to do.

Guys feel free to bring your wife's, kids, girlfriends etc. I'll have the horseshoe pit up along with some other yard games for entertainment while we play in the gym. Just let me know about a head count so I don’t make too much food again like I did at the King Kong. 12 Large pizzas’ for 6 or so guys was not my smartest moment.

Sorry Andrew I didn't see your last post asking for a head count. My wife and I for sure, but possibly our 3 kids as well. We haven't yet ironed out the details for tomorrow as far as if the kids are going to come with us or not. Hope this helps.

I'll bring all of my rated grippers, in case you want to include them in the lineup to fill holes or whatever.

See you tomorrow man!

Have fun tomorrow guys! Looking forward to seeing the results. It's so rare to see TNS grippers in a contest. Hopefully you get a nice spread of grippers so you don't jump from something everyone destroys to a gripper that nobody is close on.

Nice! Should be some good results. I'd like to hear that Jeff hit his goal on TNS grippers too.

Thanks Ben. I hit what I thought not what I wanted. 136. I failed twice on a 143 #3. Not sure how close I was Andrew might remember. I am hoping to TNS that one in September when I go back to Andrews to train again.

When Jeff hit the 143 #3 (I didn't know a gripper could do this but) the best way I can describe what happened was the handles started crossing but didn't touch each other. He has the power just the alignment was off.
