6.5" Red And 7" Red With No Rubber Bands

king crusher

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I decided to cut a half inch off a red( I also cut a 6" one too)

So I'm very happy about the 6.5" red. What do you guys think this red rates in poundage??

The video is two parts because my phone memory ended so I quickly deleted a few old vids and continued. Probably made the crush harder because the nail had time to cool off. Because the crush was wayyy harder than a 7" red but the kink and sweep were not noticably harder.

About 7-10min later I did a 7" red without rubber bands which is harder only because the dumb wraps want to unwind.

Here are the vids

Part 1(most of the video)

Part 2

The 7" without bands

Have a good fourth everyone!!

Wow, great job. I wouldn't bet against you on a double cert!

Well done! I wish I had a double overhand like that.

Very nice. According to Eric, you can add about 15 percent for a 1/2 inch off. So you're probably looking at 515 to 520 poundage for the 6.5 inch.

Thanks guys. Durrs yeah I feel so too. But when I do I wanna hit the 3 too.

Tim that sounds good. I'm happy to be in the 500s now. The kink and sweep didn't feel too different from a 7" red. But the crush was a lot more. Doubt it helped I had to stop for about a min between vids. I actually think that made it harder. Do you think there's truth to the cooling

Most definately. Some steels are affected much more than others. That's why when I calibrate a piece of steel, I take pauses to replicate when the guys with the plate loaded setups had to stop to add more weight. I have blasted through a calibration and the numbers were a little lower.

Graded bolts seem to make a big difference to me. More you can keep those moving, the easier your life will be. Cold rolled steel makes a noticable difference as well.

Hot rolled steel makes such a large radious that it doesn't matter as much if any.

These are some really awesome bends. Congrats, you have made some crazy progress super fast. You are definately ready, and should cert soon.

Thanks EJ. You and some of the other guys have helped a lot. Two things that I've done to improve are lean back and sort of using your breathing method to get air before the first hit.

So I wonder who could judge for me I live up near Green Bay.

Jason Bergman lives in my area maybe they can get him lol. I kinda want to cert the 3 and red same time but I could get the red done for sure then concentrate on the 3 shortly after. Or just start working CCS closes only and do both. Because I don't see myself losing the red bend now that I've got it. It was learning the teq. Of it.

I've only attempted a CCS close 5-6 times in the last 12mo so if I concentrate on it for a bit it should be a done deal!

Well if that's your plan, my advice is every other day bend just 1 red or equivalent. days you're not bending focus on a CCS closes. Take 1 day off a week. It's time to condition yourself.

I can feel these bends in my palms a little. Doesn't hurt at all just a faint bit if I press them hard. Just the outside area of the palm.

Yeah taking the bands off is kind of an art in itself. Any tips on that?

Yea I do have advice on bands. Find the smallest bands possible. I found some 1/2" or a tiny bit smaller bands. They are too small to wrap around twice. Then I just cut them off. Done and done
