Crushing Training Advice Needed

Hi guys,

since some weeks I'am able to get a kink into some 8mm diameter steel eventually. But I cannot crush it to 2 inches.

Are there any methods to train the crush, except with grippers ?

At which region of the palm do you place the steel for the crushing phase ?

I am thankful for any advice :)

try chest crushing some big grippers. also doing holds in the crush position with kettlebells, if that makes sense

The thinner the wraps the better for crush I find and sometimes bare handed to get the last the cm's but it hurts a heck of a lot more - I don't recommend the last one as I will probably get people disagreeing with me on that one

I trained alot of benchpress, shoulderpress and back in the gym.

130kg bench = never even struggled with Crush on red nails.

When I could kink the red it went down easy.

Besides that, just Do ISOs on bars or volume bending will probably get the strength up too..

I would also say upper body work in the gym. Flat and incline bench and db flies would be good.

Crush isometrics. You could go the barehand route if you want to be injured for days or weeks. But I doubt you would be crushing down 8mm or 5/16" stock. I can barely crush down a shiny bastard barehand from 2.50-2.00 and I consider myself to have a very strong crush.

Just practice bro. Keep trying to crush the same bar. Eventually it will go.

Thanks for all the advice guys!

I think I'll give the isos and the static weight hold in the crushing position a try..sounds like it could work:)

As for the bench pressing, that sounds generally good, but its my nemesis exercise :(

Hope to be able to post a video of a fully bent steel soon
