California King Kong Venue

I'd like to know if anyone from the gripboard is interested in competing or helping me with running the comp (I have no experience). Possible venues are the Diablo Rock gym which hosted the event in 2013 (only 4 entries) or Apex movement Norcal (ninja warrior gym), both in Concord, CA. Nothing confirmed yet.

I'm picking up the euro this weekend and I have all the other grip implements (2.5 crusher, shallow hub, 2"Vbar).

I can't compete now but Clay Edgin held the last contest at santa cruz strength. That is a nice gym also. I always found it surprising how few contests and grip guys we have in california considering how huge it is.

It sounds like he is the only one with a gym here and familiar with grip comps. I also prefer to compete with other grip sport people vs with others that have never practiced these events.

If a comp is created it will be my first comp that I have been to. I live next to Yosemite National Park in Cali.

Any news if Clay Edgin is interested in hosting the event in Santa Cruz? I will definitely come

hey man, that's great that you are interested, it seems that it's only the two of us so far. I emailed Clay on fb but haven't heard back. I assume that he is not interested in hosting unless my message didn't go through. I'm not much on fb, you can try getting in touch with him as well if you wish. I also haven't heard back from the other two gyms. I need to contact them again to see if they are still interested in hosting.

my question: can we run the comp with only two of us competing??

I found this vid of Stephen from the 2013 comp! (at diablo rock gym)

I will try calling him next week. He has a phone number for his training. Regardless, I would like to go to his gym where he trains strongman etc. Sounds like a cool place

side note: Through this thread I found out what Clay Edgin did and contacted him. I talked to him on the phone tonight. He is doing some seminars at his gym in October. He will be coming to my gym in Oakhurst, Ca, next to Yosemite National Park,. to do a strongman seminar, bringing his strongman toys etc. No date yet, I'm working on that. Some of the guys at my gym are very psyched. I am still working out the details for a signup sheet etc. There will be grip, not sure about comp tho. This is all new for me to organize. It's more a strongman seminar with grip.
