I just can't seem to stop buying grippers, got 10 new #3's to rate tomorrow. hoping I Get a good spread, ideally i want 145 to 155 in 3lb jumps!

I've attempted 4 already, 1st 2 I was a few mm away from, 3rd one I had difficulty setting and got it to about 10mm with all my might, and the 4th one was much easier than the 3rd but still missed it by a few mm.

Dude you just spend 200$ usd on grippers? I would've bought a bottle of Johnny Walker Blue or a new Microtech switchblade.

At least he can sell the ones he doesn't want with ease.

Microtech's are good and all but this is the one you really want EJ.

not bad! 143-153 is a good range. I assume you'll be selling couple 144s? You should be able to sell those fast.

got a few requests to sell already, I will be selling the ones i don't need but I'm not confident im my ratings just yet. I did RGC all my 125 and above grippers yesterday with this new setup (crane scale and ratchet strap) and got numbers that looked ok but that was literally just a case of puttig it on, closing 2-3 times and getting 3 similar numbers and taking an average and it came out just about how i thought. but with the 10x new #3s i took a lot more time and sometimes did 20-30 closes on each and got some numbers that were +/- 5, and then I found that pulling on the strap in different ways made the numbers different. the ratchet strap wil only go so far, then the last bit was done by hand, I found pulling on the strap ok at first but then it was getting tiring pulling on it untill close and holding steady waiing for a number to appear, so I got a metal bar and put that on the strap and used as a lever which made it 10x easier to finely get it to close and look for the number but if i'm honest ever since then the numbers got easier. I did go back and try a few of the earlier ones with the bar and got same numbers but after doing 20 manual closes (using a pipe as an extended handle) on 10 grippers before rating my hands were worn out and I pronbaby wasn't paying as much attention. none the less I do have a gripper stand now with all 10 arranged from hardest to easiest, and if you grab the easiest one and shut it, then grab the hardest and shut it it's obvious there's a big difference, Interestingly when i compare them like that to my rated 3 (153 from CPW, I rated it at 150 yesterday) then I noticed that the hard ones from yesterday were harder than that. So they will be available soom I just think I need to rate them all again using the exact same method before I start selling them as "RGC'd" , otherwise I might end up inadvertently upsetting some people with ratings that are not perfect.

figured out the problem, the crane scale has a mind of it's own. I tried testing the scale on it's own between 2 fixed points using a ratchet strap to adjust the tension, it seems to work ok but randomly the hold button must just press itself and hold is displayed on the screen and from then on, it is just a random number generator. I managed to rate 2 grippers tonight roughly (the easiest and the hardest from last week) and on came out at 160, and one came out at 152. I know theres an easy one in there somewhere though because I comfortably closed it last week MMS and my max on a good day is about 150.

and when I say "roughly" it's because theres no time to do it right, as soon as you stop moving it goes into hold mode and does what it wants so it was just a case of ratcheting it down then pulling to close a few times and looking at the display. i can do that a few times and was getting very similar readings but if I stop to put the bit of tube in to stop the strap rubbing on the bottom handle then it goes into hold mode.

New crane scale arrived and I have sorted the ratings out.

156 - 76.2mm

153 - 76.5mm

153 - 77.8mm

150 - 75.9mm

150 - 77.9mm

148 - 75.2mm

147 - 74.6mm

145 - 74.6mm

145 - 74.5mm

143 - 73.6mm

am going to rate my entire gripper collection later and post up the results, I have a few CPW rated ones so if they compare then I'm confident in the ratings. with the new crane scale I'm getting consistent readings every time i close a gripper so a lot better than the last time.

I just purchased 3 IM#3's and got very similar ratings to yours using a crane scale to rate as well.

IM COC 3 - 145

IM COC 3 - 148

IM COC 3 - 152

I've got the "gripper buying bug" as well...Bought about 12 or so in the last couple months. These things are kinda like lottery tickets...Taking a chance at getting that rating you need to fill gaps in your collection can be downright addicting...Sometimes you win ...Sometimes you lose...Thanks for the ratings for comparison.
