MattM
Deadlift positioning with the suit looks great! You feel like you're getting something out of it? Thanks! I'm not sure what I'm getting from the suit, but it hasn't hurt my pull at least haha. I'm still working on sinking into the suit to get that spring, and keeping my knees from going forward too much. MattM
Ok. Nationals was by far the biggest show I have ever competed in, and went in ready to give it hell and that's just what happened, final placing was 18th out of 75. Considering I made a few errors I am satisfied with the experience. Press Medley: 200 Keg, 270 Axle, 150 Circus Dumbbell x 9 reps (Rep PR) -tie for fourth on this event. Here are some images from the NAS website Yoke Carry: 700lbs x 60ft, past the line in 10.93 seconds (Rep/Time PR) -maybe 15th on this? Not sure. Would like to improve this event in the future.
MattM
Carry Medley: 270 Keg x 60ft, 275 Farmers x 40ft, 300 Duck Walk x 20ft -AKA disaster medley. Grabbed the lady's duck walk in the lane next to me instead of my own. 36 seconds, which was strange considering the lane two fellow's time was 34 seconds and on the video we are nearly even. Placing was mid pack. Car Deadlift: Toyota Camry+300 pounds in trunk x Reps. Up and down commands (some kind of PR?) -18 reps, 3rd Place. Winner had 20 reps. This was my best event finish at the contest. Edited October 12, 2014 by MattM
MattM
Wheelbarrow Push: Wheelbarrow x 60ft across the line. Weight Listed was 1650ish -Finished with just over 11 seconds. Torn left and hand and a lack of hustle got me here, I think upper mid pack on this one. Keg Carry & Load: 230, 250, and Mystery Keg* x 10ft over a 54" Bar -Lane 3's 270 was switched with a unmarked keg due to damage on the bottom. The weight was reported to be around 300 by other athletes in the lane. In the end I fumbled both the 250 and the 300 anyway as you will see in the video, which killed my time unfortunately. I do wish they would have left the beat up 270 in the lane, as all other mens lanes were using one and I had used the beat up keg in the carry medley with no major problem. Time was 26 seconds, almost double my training times Edited October 12, 2014 by MattM

carusom1
Can't believe how fast you came back into the gym and starting destroying reps. hahaha You did great. Your training was great and you couldn't have prepared better. Contest are so variable, you never know how things are going to end up times, distance, implements, preparedness. It's crazy, and then you get 75 guys in one class, insane. You'll only continue to improve and learn more tricks with competing. Great job overall, you should be proud.
MattM
I try to break the post contest cherry as soon as I can hahaha! I'll keep making my way up, I liked how the training came along this year and will make some adjustments to try make sure the ball doesn't stop (insert joke here) lol. Maybe next nationals or sooner for whatever occasion we can meet up! PS Colin's at the garage again, which is great also
