Pre-Rating Organization?

Now that the list of pre-rated grippers is staying longer, I was hoping to get feedback on the organization. I see three obvious options:

1) One mixed master list like now.

2) Separated by manufacturer and/or type.

3) Separated into 3 sections that align with our Training-->Advanced-->Elite groupings.

Pros and cons I see are as follows:

For #1 the mixed list is one-stop shopping but is long, daunting and kind of hard to pick out one brand if you're not interested in buying just anything.

For #2 you could easily shop within your preferred brand but if you just want a 133# gripper then you'd have to check multiple places.

For #3 the brands would be mixed like now but in 3 separate shorter segments. 0-100. 101-149. 150+.

Any thoughts?

To me the way it is works perfect. I want to initially sort by rating and then decide based on manufacturer which this way allows me to do. Any way you sort is a compromise for someone but to me given that people are shopping for pre-rated grippers having rating 1st makes sense. As a customer it isn't at all hard to find what I need this way. Let's say I want a #155 GHP, right now I scroll the list for the rating then look at that section to see that it is a GHP, simple as pie. If brand is more important than rating I wouldn't be shopping rated grippers, I would just pick an unrated and have you rate it. I'm not sure what the third option does beyond splitting things up either via different pages or extra sections in the list, neither of which would speed up the shopping experience for anyone and may slow it down if they were on different pages and the person needed say a high advanced and low elite.

TL;DR: leave it how it is for ease of shopping IMO. Sorting by brand don't make much sense (beyond how you already do it) and sorting by arbitrary categories is even worse.

People "need" a certain rating. They "want" a certain brand. That's how I look at it. The list sorted by rating is no trouble at all to scroll through, even on a phone.

If you were to make one change, I'd suggest a wish list / waiting list feature, either a thread here or a feature on the site.

If Joe Schmo orders a pre rated #2 that comes out at 115lbs and someone has been looking for a 115lb gripper, Joe doesn't know or care if you send that 115 to someone else and you send him a different one.

For example, make it a $5 purchase on the site to get a spot on the list. When the rating pops up, send notice and give them a week to claim it by purchasing the gripper at the normal price.

What's an extra $5 to fill a gap that's been bothering you for a few months? If it doesn't come up and they get impatient, let them modify the request or pull it in exchange for store credit. Some details to be worked out, I know its not as easy as it sounds, but it would be nice.

Give loyal customers a little benefit so they don't have to check for pre-rated updates every 10 minutes hoping to get what they need. Just my 2 cents.

How about having a mix of all, if you can do it. Here's an idea I have for you Matt.

What I mean, have it an option where you could select, not like you do now where everything rated is listed.

For the first one you have something like "Rated Level" which could show Training/Advance/Elite and what you would have in stock currently according to those said levels. People could select the level that best fits where they are currently.

The next select option could be "Rated Brand" (Ironmind, GHP, Silvis, etc.), this way you know what could be available with rated grippers from said brand.

Then you could have an "All Ratings" option where it's a combination of everything rated (that is currently in use at the moment).

I like it how it is but I wouldn't mind any option. To be honest I always go str8 to the coc3s and then see everything else because with the pre-rated sales the CoC3s seem to be the first that disappear, especially the ones that are further away from average.

#3 gets my vote but i have no issues with the current system you use. Also thanks for all the hard work can't thank you enough for what you do.

Hi Matt,

I would say it works just fine the way it is. It's not like that pre-rated list is thousands of items long...

However I would like to suggest changing the place where you can find the pre-rated grippers. Right now they can be found under 'Accessories' which is kind of odd. I would either give them a direct 'pre-rated grippers button' on the productpage or just put them under grippers somewhere. If you put them under grippers you could split them in 'beginner','advanced' and 'elite' level like you do with the other grippers. That way you are consistent.

100% agreed.

I think you have the best system as is. I like scrolling down...especially if I'm looking for multiple grippers (save on shipping) :)

Great feedback. Kristy has also been talking about this lately. I think the pre-rating product will ultimately have it's own collection. The store software informs us that the Pre-Rating product gets the most traffic of anything on the site.

In addition to what Royz suggested I think you could go for both #1 and #2. Just use the brand as a filter. So if you're looking at the page of a GHP5 it will show all of those that you have rated in stock etc.

You might be able to set up a "check for pre-rated" link on individual gripper pages, that redirect the user to a search for "gripper name rated" or something along those lines.

It's a good idea, but we do have some constraints with what is possible through the store software templates.

I like the set-up as it is now.
