Cool to see the BBB revived, in name and spirit! The ones that John Beatty hosted were among my favorite contests of any kind. Probably remains the only contest where three different guys closed a #4. Josh Dale, Big Steve McGranahan, and Dave Morton.

That would have been impressive to see. Heck my 3.5's are just paperweights to me.

If you host this next year then maybe I'd be able to attend. By then my toddler might be more self-sufficient and allow me to start training effectively for a goal again. :)

I still like the idea of weight classes in competition and it appears to be here to stay. This will definitely encourage more competitor participation over time than the old way of just lumping everyone together. Eventually, I think having a Masters category would be a good path to pursue also.

If my daughter inherits any of my interest in hand strength, she will be formidable in women's grip comps by the time she's a teenager. She will be 2 years old next month and has already expressed interest in the few grippers I still own. Even at a year old she was trying to close the Ironmind Handgripper Helper. My loose timeline goals for her on grippers are:

  • Guide closed both hands with 20mm Block Set......by her 10th birthday.
  • Sport closed both hands with 20mm Block Set.......by her 11th birthday.
  • Trainer closed both hands with 20mm Block Set....by her 12th birthday.
  • .5 closed both hands with 20mm Block Set..............by her 13th birthday.
  • #1 closed both hands with 20mm Block Set.............by her 14th birthday.
  • #1.5 closed both hands with 20mm Block Set..........by her 15th birthday.
  • #2 closed both hands with 20mm Block Set.............by her 16th birthday.
  • #2.5 closed both hands with 20mm Block Set..........by her 17th birthday.
  • #3 closed (right or left) with 20mm Block Set..........by her 18th birthday.

Very awesome set of grip goals for her!

And hopefully you can make it out to one of these in the future...I'd definitely like to pick up a few tips from an extremely elite bender in person!

I had a few questions on the trap bar so I'll try and answer them here as well. The bar that we are going to use does not yet exist outside of sketches and drawings. It's more or less going to be my dream trap-bar that I've always wanted. When It's built I'll have pictures posted. But what I'm looking to make is going to have 18" parallel handles with what I would call a medium knurling 1.25" diameter handles. This should run a lot like the Farmers bars pick from MGC 2014.

Going to try and make this one. Is the trap bar just normal handles?

I would love to have you guys head out.

I really like the idea of the scoring system , for the blob toss event ,

Initially I thought , the heavier blob would win over the lighter one

Even if the lighter had more tosses , but the point scoring is

A great idea!

No one will go for the heavies.. I'd try to rep out the lightest one for a zillion reps... Might as well keep a set weight

Also good to see the 2" vbar making a contest comeback. It's in another contest and that's good to see. There are some very good 2" vbar marks that haven't been "ratified" due to not having calibrated weights.

Since the FBBC Crush will be an event do you know when they will be in stock?

It will be interesting to see what everyone picks. If I had to go right now I would pick the 27.5 block but with my stubby fingers that's also what I like width wise.

Material is in but after the delay with the V-bars I'm going to hold off on setting a date so I don't have to go back on my word again. That being said production has them scheduled next then loading pins.

Change of events. We are going to switch out the Trap bar deadlift for Farmers Bars pick for max weight. Last man standing 20 pound jumps in weight. % scoring. Same event done at MGC last year. I'm simply working too many hours at my day job to work on the trap bar and I don't want to take what time I have away from the main FBBC product line.
