Meeting With Juha In Dubai

Recommended Posts

Juha and I will see each other in Dubai soon. On 18th of this month. I just returned from the army and have lost around 22KG (around 48.5 pounds). Haven't trained since December 2013 seriously. Only once every two month (because of my shoulder muscle rupture). Hopefully i can still close a 2 haha. Juha will destroy everything here too! We will update later after the meet.

I think duabi would be a cool place to visit, they have really built that place up impressively for tourists.

I have. She is very sad that no one lifted her yet. Maybe Juha can lift her and date her :D

I also recently got a very easy #3 rated by canon @ 138! I am sure Juha will smack many many reps on it!

Wow 138 is so low. How can there be a 20 pound difference between number threes? It kind of throws the legitimacy out of it.

Take some video of your guys meeting.

Yes there are few people that have this low. I know two others that have it. It's the lowest #3 ever rated. Guess am lucky hehe.

Will take photo's and videos. He will reach in two hours and will see if today he is tired then let him rest and if not we will train together

How does this affect legitimacy? Tetting grippers vary more wildly than virtually any other brand and they are worshipped for it. COC grippers vary a bit but they are garbage, IM certs aren't legit, and Strossen is a hack.

I really don't get the double standard.

I had one that was RGC rated at 137lbs. I have RGC rated two other #3s that were lower than 137lbs. But I know there is one #3 that RGC rated in the very low 130lbs range. Not one from Timmy. Or Sam Scott. Or whatever name he is going by these days. The guy who rated it can jump in if he wants to add more detail.

I haven't heard of anyone certifying on an out-of-the-package #3 and having it later RGC rated as low as 138lbs. My cert gripper was only 146lbs. It was not an out-of-the-package CCS cert either.

I have RGC rated (back when I used to have an RGC rig) over a dozen COC's cert #3s. I have never shared their numbers - specifically, their name and their #3s rating. Two of the COCs specifically asked me not to share the number with anyone. Which I actually thought was a bit strange. Because their cert #3s were definitely NOT on the easy side. The lowest (out of the >dozen rated) of the cert #3s was 141lbs. The highest was 162lbs. I remember that the hardest one felt harder than 162lbs. It was almost 3.25" spread and had slick-ish handles. Although I actually dislike the COC it belonged to, I was impressed that he:

  • #1) Wanted me to RGC rate his #3.
  • #2) Told me up front that he was never able to CCS close it. He certified well before the CCS rule.
  • #3) Ate a bucket of crow after arrogantly telling me I couldn't count it on my "list of #3s I've closed" unofficial list (I was shooting for a goal of closing at least 100 #3s with any set, some were TNS and CCS - but most were MMS) unless I CCS closed it - since it was after my 2005 CCS cert. I sent him a video of me CCS smashing the living daylights out of that gripper.

I think people are more harsh on IM because they state very boldly to this date that COC's don't vary, which is not true. This together with kinda bashing the RGC method of rating. Obviously they check their products on a totally different way then through RGC but even I feel big difference between my lowest 142 #3 and 155 #3. The quality of the COC's in sense of quality and durability however is not in question, it's a fine product. As far as Tetting goes, I cannot recall him speaking out in public about his productquality or bashing gripcommunity in general. I think this makes the difference...

Sorry, not meant to overtake the topic. Cool gettogether Alawadhi. I didn't see any Inch lifts on FB as I recall, did Juha lift it? 97kg...sick!

Alawadhi, I'm so glad you got to meet Juha!!!

Juha, what did you think of Dubai?

Perfect place for tourist. Very beauty buildings, amazing hotels, marvelous food, especially seafood! People are nice and we spend great moments with them. Bader and his friends showed us Dubai´s best places and I´ll never forget those! :)

At my facebook wall is about 50-60 photos of Dubai and couple our training videos too. I´ll do later big video which indludes areas from Dubai. I was still weak because of my 3 weeks flu and antibioticks. All big lifts will stay at next time. We practised together different gripper closing techniques, double blob lift techniques, wrist developing etc. Also Bader showed to me how to bend nails. It´s new area for me. I got some good tips from Bader. Many thanks for those. Bader also showed me potatoes crushing techniques and we did together mashed potatoes. :laugh

I also tested baraban tester and got only 85kg. Bader have also similar hand dynamometer like MR. Baseline and I squeezed little bit over 110kg. Not good result but dynamometer felt good.

Yesterday I had best birthday ever. We ate wonderful first class dinner and Bader had arranged little suprise for me. Beautiful girls sang to me birthday song and they gave me birthday cake with candle!!!

I tried to lift it many times. Handle is good but INCH was too heavy. I got little bit air under real ball and that´s it. I tried many times also Bader´s original York plates. Those plates surfaces are like brand new, slippery and no seasoned. Some one must put on chalk on those and use those. Fatman blob´s has very good seasoned surface.

Ah okay didn't know there were even lower than #138 real #3 (as you said not Timmy's). But still I feel very lucky to own this gripper. It's a keeper (not that I let go of a gripper before)

Alawadhi, I'm so glad you got to meet Juha!!!

Yep am glad to met him too

Yep we ate nice food and we enjoyed our time here a lot (haha about the seafood :D )!

I cannot really add to what Juha said as he mentioned almost all! But I too like Juha was weak as the past weeks I too had a flue and took antibiotics. Not to mention I lost BIG amount of weight and returned from the Army intense training with little to no food and water (which also added weakness upon weakness). I didn't do great but still could crush a potato (not even as half as fast as I could before but still it was okay to still be able to do it)

Here is the link which Juha uploaded on potato crushing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQw9U4IrzEg

Also Juha noticed my 79KG Inch had a bigger handle than the average ones. I got a digital caliper and will post the results of it's size tonight hopefully.

Juha also toyed with two fatmans blob I bought from Paul Knight and which he lifted ( http://www.gripboard.com/index.php?showtopic=37662 )

He double lifted them several times and there is a video of him on his YouTube account lifting them with ease.

My best with the RB Dynamometer was around 70-75KG +/-. I like this Dyno more than the baseline because the "hands" won't "fly" if you jerk it.

Juha easily repped a CoC #3 ten times too which I liked a lot! He also showed my best ways to MMS a gripper.

Juha is also very strong raw. He easily presses heavy weights.

Oh yes shaking hands with Juha feels like holding a cement! Besides that he and his wife are very kind!!

Dunno really what to write if you guys wanna know anything else lemme know :)

Juha, did you heft his heavy Inch?

I am sure Juha would've lifted it high if he was in shape. He was sick for the past 3 weeks perior to meeting us in Dubai. And yes the york plates were not seasoned at all and is very very slippery bastard. Next time Juha you are here give it a hell :rock !!!
