Jedd Johnson
I am loving Juha Harju's Grip Monsters Challenges. One of them is the 50-lb Blob to a 50cm Platform for Reps. I was in the lead with 15 or 16, and I wanted to try to overtake myself. The first time I used the easiest Next Gen Blob I own. This time I wanted to try it with Josh Dale's Fatman Blob. It weighs 53+lbs. Here's the video. I eventually beat my own number, but I had to go back to the Next Gen to do it. The Fatman was just too tough for me. I think if my back weren't hurting so bad at the time of the trial, I would have gotten 16 reps, but I was having to Row the Blob on many of the reps since my Glutes and lumbar extensors were almost completely shut down. You'll also see, I couldn't do more than 1 or 2 reps most of the time with my left hand, because it was LIGHTING UP my back much worse than my right hand.

odin
Jedd, if that's Josh Dale's Fatman Blob (nicknamed SLICK50) that Eaton had on extended loan, it's really tough. I had a difficult time finishing it off w/ a legitimate lift and dropped it multiple times before getting it to lockout; it was easier if you "cheated" and lifted it on the flat spot as Eaton showed me. So, you lifting it for reps is really impressive, well done Jedd!
Jedd Johnson
Thanks Bob. Yes, that is the Fatman that is here. It has definitely maintained a slickness to it, that is for sure. I love the fact that all Blobs are different as far as the surface is concerned. Thanks for posting brother.

Jedd Johnson
I wanted to challenge myself again with this drill, so I made this the main section of my Grip workout yesterday. You'll see three main types of efforts: A: Fatman Blob (53#) lifted for max reps in 60 seconds without purposely tilting the Blob for an advantage B: A run or two with the Fatman with tilt for an advantage C: Next Gen, aiming for 20 reps in 60 seconds, which I finally got This is an awesome training method. You don't need to use the 50-lb Blob to make it beneficial either. Any Block Weight will work. My hands feel AWESOME lately because of working this in. Tremendous volume, tremendous effort, and with the speed/density training, it is totally different from most of the stuff I have been doing. Thanks again to Juha for putting these challenges together. I hope more people continue to put up videos for the many other challenge species as well.
