As some of you already know, J.L. Holdsworth and the rest of the Spot Athletics Staff will be hosting ThanksGripping in at The Spot in Columbus, OH on Saturday Nov. 16th, 2013. All proceeds will go to the wounded warrior project. We are still hammering out details and events, but expect it to be a good time for us grip competitors or and anyone else interested in the strength community. If you're on Facebook, you can search ThanksGripping and find the event page

i hope to attend this. i heard on the grip strength radio podcast them talk about "TBA" events. it may be interesting to keep it a secret till everyone arrives at the facility. either way, i am glad you put this together. columbus has a great strength community and hopefully some newbies will attend along with experienced competitors.

Are those the Sorinex Anvil trainer and pinch blocks?

What weight sledge will you be using? Full deadlift or to a platform of set height?

Just curious Luke, would you want a Euro device to pinch from instead for record purposes ? I could bring one over. Got plenty of calibrated weights as well. Didn't know if the event would be sanctioned for records or not, Rolling Thunder, etc. Plus I have plenty of odd and end challenge implements you guys would like for the medley if your interested. If I can be of any help let me know.

Kody,

I know JL has been talking to Jedd about being sanctioned as a NAGS event. The two inch pinch was JL's call. I think he wanted to do the two inch because it will save time, and be more fun for the open division.

As for the grip implements for the medly, let myself or Jl know what you have. That would be a big help.

My email is rose.1056@osu.edu

JL's is jl.holdsworth@hotmail.com

We are looking to start at 10am, so weigh ins will be at 9am

Anvil trainer will be the sorinex one, but the 2inch pinch block will be from EliteFTS.

We are using a 12lb sledge for the Pro event as per the NAGS rules for the CHOKE: QUARTER DEADLIFT, per the rules we will be lifting sledge to a 18'' platform.

The 10lb sledge will be used for the open event but with the same rules.

My last bit of footage. The 2" Block 1 Hand Pinch. Not sure if I won this event or what. I was right in it at the end, but JL might have gotten me. I could not get the grip I wanted because the device was too small for me and I had to angle my hand or else my middle finger would hook under the block.
