Josh's Mm0 Challenge

Introduction

My name is Josh. I have recently began a quest to close the CoC #3. On top of that, I have began a strength program. I wasn't going to post a log on here but I figure the opportunity to have some of my idols in the sport critique my work is priceless. Currently I have closed both a CoC #2.5 and a GHP #6 rated at 130 and narrowly missed a GM rated at 140. I have been keeping a paper log since August and will work to transcribe that information.

Biographical information: I currently work as a children's residential counselor. I became re-motivated in grip when showing a few of the kids at work grippers and nails. I also have battled obesity my entire life. I am now currently pushing 400 pounds at 5'11" and am hoping that the accountability of posting on a log such as this will motivate me to get off of the couch. About 2 years ago I lost over 100 pounds (370lbs to 260lbs) by cardio (I did this to get a job in a correctional facility.) Shortly after getting the job I lost focus and now have put the weight and more back on. I hope to begin the path to being healthier by starting with a strength routine, something that has always been a passion of mine.

Thanks to anybody who looks at this log and I welcome any an all critiques.

Good luck in reaching your goals. I'm a gripper junkie myself so I look forward to seeing your progress. Starting a log is a great way to keep motivated.

I really look forward to the competition and support. I feel that the race and this workout log will help push passed self imposed limitations.

Its always good fun to follow logs such as this one.

Keep it up, except for maybe the negatives on coc 4 and 3,5.

It can rip your tendons so fast and hard you wont believe it!

If I could recommend somthing it'd be "how i train grippers" on youtube, by chez.

I've followed that program for 1,5 months and have gone up from my 140 lbs coc3 to my 155 lbs mashmonster1.

Good luck!

That's exactly the kind of feedback I'm looking for, thanks. I've been trying to shift my current training away from negatives and more towards heavy singles and doubles. Thanks for the encouragement.

Post up some videos of these bends. If you are killing L there is no reason you are missing M drillrod. They are not far from each other at all. Your problem may be just a small technique tweak. And we can fix that no problem. After the M the red is real close. So post some videos ASAP.

My next bending session I will post a couple of videos. My technique right now is horrible, I struggle keeping the bar under my chin.

September 17, 2014 Grip (Left Hand)

  • CoC #2.5 cut for 2 singles
  • CoC #4 for10 Negatives
  • coC #3.5 for 11 Negatives

This is the point that I figured out negatives might not be for me. It ripped the skin on my palm pretty good, just tapes it and finished but still hurt. The next day or two my hands were fried.

September 21, 2014 (Bending)

All of these bends were done in IMP

  • 7 in J DR- miss
  • 60 D nail - bent
  • 7 in G DR- bent
  • 7 in J DR- bent
  • 7 in J DR- miss

September 24, 2014 Squats

  • 225 lbs x 10, 315 lbs x 10, 335 lbs x 14, 335 lbs x 10

So at this point I am still squatting above parrell. On top of that as I fatigued my technique became even worse (if that is possible) and I tweaked my back. I am looking into fixing my technique, I believe I am over arching my back which is straining my discs. This is my best guess anyway.
