Royz
6 feb. Zercher squats 5x90kg/ 5x100kg/ 5x110kg/ 5x115kg/ 5x120kg Still liking these. Might be a lofty goal to shoot for 150kg, but I'm not going to force it. Grippers TNS sucked. Horizontal leg press 10x125kg/ 10x141kg/ 10x157kg/ 10x173kg Barbell lunges 6x70kg/ 6x75kg/ 5x80kg/ 5x85kg 2HP using two really fat 20kg plates 4x40kg/ 2x45kg/ 3x45kg/ 3x45kg/ 3x45kg 1HP using two really fat 10kg plates Bunch of hold and lockouts with 20+5kg Dynamic pinch Using Vulcan + modified thumb screws. 6 sets. Royz
17 feb. 2015 Another nice one. Zercher squats 5x90kg/ 5x100kg/ 5x110kg/ 5x120kg/ 5x125kg Definitely not 'a rep left in the tank' on that last set. Barbell step ups on 40cm? block 10x70kg/ 10x75kg/ 10x80kg/ 8x85kg/ 8x90kg Romanian deadlift 5x90kg/ 5x110kg/ 5x120kg/ 5x130kg/ 5x140kg/ 5x145kg Man that last set was a tough one. Vulcan V2 (filed) with black spring mms (done in between Zercher squat sets) Right level 9 (I think) 10x5 Left level 9 (I think) 10x3 Yes I've filed my Vulcan. Wasn't using it at all so I thought why not? I'm hoping I will get a little bit better carry over this way to TSG's. I think I will file of a millimeter more. It doesn't seem quite enough at the moment. Still really sucks to set this thing. It just seems like my hands are too small. I can't keep the thumb of my setting hand on the handle that's on my thumbpad if I want to push the other handle with the crook of my index finger. This means it's very hard to keep the Vulcan from sliding in my hand. The spread of my Vulcan is way wider than any of my grippers, including the ghp's. Standing finger curls 8x80kg/ 6x85kg/ 6x85kg/ 6x85kg/ 6x85kg One leg seated calf presses 15x80kg/ 10x90kg/ 10x90kg/ 10x90kg Ab stuff Some 'easy' L-sit and front lever progressions. How the #$%! do you do an L-sit without your quads cramping up? It hurts.

Anthony C.
And this is my poor filed Vulcan... Vulcan filed1_small.jpgVulcan filed2_Small.jpg Nice! I agree with you on the Vulcan. In theory it is an excellent tool but the massive spread made it useless to me as I have smallish hands. People say it helps you get strong on your set but I disagree with that because due to the size of the spread, I had to change the positioning in my hand and the mechanics of the exercise became completely different from grippers. I agree the setting technique is different. I actually just saw a vid of David Horne explaining how to set the Vulcan and he uses more of a pulling motion than a pushing motion (Paul Knight style). Still going to give the Vulcan another chance. I've had some succes with it in the past.
Geralt
I have to be honest, at some point i will be 'ditching' tsg's and use the Vulvan much more. It is a highly versatile gripper.
RTvG
Roy, Can you make it march first at Geralt's? We'll throw a grip party and Im sure I can get you on the right track for the V2. Royz
20 feb, 2015 Pressing is feeling shit at the moment. Energy not super either. Bench press 5x100kg/ 5x105kg/ 5x110kg/ 3x115kg/ 2x115kg/ 6x100kg The step from 110kg to 115kg seemed huge to me today. Overhead press 4x5x 65kg Terrible. Felt like lifting a truck overhead. Floor press 4x5x 90kg DO Dead with Fatgripz 5x100kg/ 3x120kg/ 2x130kg/ 2x135kg! / 1x135kg/ 1x135kg/ 1x135kg On par with my best so that's good. Still really really wanna get to 1x150kg. DO Dead thumbless with Fatgripz 3x100kg/ 3x105kg/ 2x105kg I feel these could be very usefull for someone with not huge hands. I feel these will allow me to use a bit more wrist with the Fat deadlifting and in doing so get a little pressure of the thumbs. Hopefully... Dynamic pinch with modified Vulcan thumscrews 6 sets. 8-10 rep range. Heaviest I've done both in weight and effort. Barbell row 5x105kg/ 5x115kg/ 10x100kg/ 10x100kg Used up most of my energy. Decided to switch to higher reps. Plate curlz 5x10kg (full olympic size)/ 3x15kg (standard)/ 3x15kg/ 3x15kg/ 2x superset 1x15kg (full olympic size) + 2x15kg (standard) + 10x10kg (small fat plate) Front lever bar Hand to hand toss. Saw a vid of David Wigren doing these with a sledge. Looked like fun. It's suprisingly hard to catch and hold level for a moment. 3 sets with 5kg on the leverage bar. Back lever bar 3x8x 8,5kg Pronation/supination lever bar Very light, loads of reps. Ab wheel rollouts 10x/ 20x/ 30x/ 20x Need a weight vest this is starting to feel like an endurance thing. Ab wheel balance Lean on your ab wheel like you're going to do a push up. Hold that pose and than lift one foot for 10sec, than the other. Suprisingly hard at first. Royz
The grip get together with the boys from the lowlands is going down this Sunday! Should be fun. Bob and Geralt are going to crush their mm1 cert and I will be there for support. I'm going to give the mm1 a feel, but no way I'm currently able to close it haha. Bob might bring his baby inch. Very curious to have a go at it although I will probably look like I'm trying to pull Excalibur from the rock.

Can't say yet how Bob an Geralt did with the mm1, but I did lift the freakin' 67kg baby inch! (So did Bob and Geralt) Really over the moon about that! Other than that it was a great little grip get together and tried all sorts of implements and talked grip for a long time. Until next time guys!

Royz
3 feb. 2015 Really feel lifting that baby inch has energised me. Lately I was feeling like none of my gripwork was really paying off but now I feel I'm not completely hopeless. Always thought lifting the full inch dumbell was territory only for the freaky strong, but now it seems doable, given time. 11kg more is still a lot! No grip today, need a bit of healing from the grip get together... Clean once + press 4x60kg/ 2x70kg/ 2x75kg/ 2x80kg/ 2x80kg/ 2x80kg Much better than last time when I was really sluggish. Dumbbell push press 3x26kg/ 3x30kg/ 3x34kg/ 3x36kg/ 3x38kg Thought I'd give it a try. Kinda awkward with my left hand, definitely lacking some coordination there. Hoist machine shoulder press 5x41kg/ 5x47kg/ 5x54kg/ 10x47kg/ 20x41kg Heaviest machine press I know. The whole stack is just 73kg, but I think you need to be able to press at least 100kg overhead before you can use that. Bottom up press 10x20kg/ 10x20kg/ 10x20kg Unfortunately these are still the heaviest kettlebells at my gym. Next time I'm bringin' some ductape to tape some plates to the bottom. ;-) Seated one legged calf press 20x75kg/ 20x80kg/ 20x85kg/ 15x90kg/ 45x70kg Abs Some frontlever and L-sit progressions and a anti-rotating thingy. No need for that Roy, you were strong in the first place already. Just keep going. Thing is with grip, you just need some items to have for training so you can specialize. That's it. Regarding grippers, maybe start completely all over, doing singles and working up. You just need to find a groove. For the rest of the disciplines of grip you were just as strong and even stronger, no lying. Edited March 4, 2015 by Geralt
