Electron
I've been chasing a 300lb Axle for a while, and this thread will get me there. I've started a few other "challenge" threads like this before (1arm pull up, #2.5 close) and I've found this to be very motivating. Needless to say, the threads have helped me achieve the goals I set out for. For double overhand axle deadlifts, I think 300 is a good milestone that separates the boys from the men. The average guy who's gym strong will easily pull into the 200s on axle, but only people who have strong hands will pull 300s. Anybody interested in achieving this feat? Feel free to join in. Make sure to list some stats: Class: 66k by end of year Axle: 264 in competition, updating my max later today. Video: if you have one. Mine is not uploading for some reason. Ready, set, go!
dlewis8589
Seems fitting seeing as I just got one. Would love to hit this then get back to grippers, i'm in. Current weight: 170lbs Axle: 253 Video:
jvance
Very cool Yori, a 300# is probably well over 2x BW for you. Ill be following along
Buccos1
I'm definitely game for this! Most thickbar-type lifts are difficult for me, especially making any type of progress when I hit my "max." I started out around 240 I think, and maxed out at 275 a month-or-so back. Right now, I think I am at 265-270. 300 is my goal and this will help me get closer, I think. Weight Class: 93kg Axle Max: 275lbs. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOEtsPkQESk
Electron
Great to see all those who are in. Jon, I got 2xBW at NATS, but because I'll be gaining weight for KK, I'd like to retain my double BW axle. So at 145#, I'd better be able to pull 290+. Because I'm not the strongest at DLs, my back is limiting me still, so I'm working on bringing that up to increase my axle.
Electron
BW: 131 lbs New PR: 267 lbs I need more weight, I maxed out my bar. I attempted 275 twice. Both times my back started gassing at knee level. Since I live on the third floor I always set the bar down gently, my hands were fine with the extended holds but my back needs more juice. Although this looks like a measly 3lbs PR, I measured and found that I'm pulling from a 1-1/4" deficit. Also I find my axle to be at least 10lbs harder than the IM axle. honk
I'm in. BW: 172# Axle: 260# x 4 I need more weight, I maxed out my bar. Same here
Mike Sharkey
I'm in. This is one of the few weightlifting things I intend to pursue at the moment. BW: 198 Axle:
Electron
Additional rules: Axles can be IM, Sorinex, hollow pipe, custom bar stock, etc. Anything with a 1.875-2.0" OD will be cool. Though hollow pipe axle are cheap and awesome, people who want to join in with Manus grips or Fatgripz are welcome too. If Fatgripz, the goal is 270lbs If Manus grips, 265 is your goal. Both of the above translate roughly to a 300lb Axle lift. Did you know? The original Appollon wheels had the same OD as a pipe axle. The Holles wrote a fantastic article about the original in Milo.

I find my form breaks down pretty bad on axle compared to a bar. the thicker diameter pushes it in front of you a bit and if anything else is off you're in a pretty crappy position. concentrate on keeping form tight, a lower back tweak will set you back.
Anthony C.
I'd really like to get in on this, great idea! Right now all I have are iron bull 2.0s and fat gripz, but I'll be on the lookout for a 2 inch black pipe. Will post numbers when I know for sure but I'm definitely in! Cannon
I'm in... in theory. Mostly for support Training deadlift is one of the things I do to keep my back healthy and it's not out of the question that I'll gain some latitude to train heavier. My back tolerated everything I threw at it in July and also so far in August. This is a good sign and something I have not had the pleasure of experiencing in YEARS. So, right now, I'm not "chasing 300" per se, but it's not out of the question to get there as I train to be healthy anyway. Current BW = 160 max = I've lifted more, but I have 270 on video. current max = no idea, we'll see Here is a video of the (fairly easy) 270 lift:

king crusher
I want an axle. Not sure I wanna invest in one though. How much are fat grips? Deadlift is a favorite of mine so I'd imagine my axle pull to be pretty decent. Gotta get something though

Buccos1
Was doing squats today and decided to do somr axle between sets. Worked up to a very easy 255, then decided to try for a 280 PR. Got it to just below knees.

Gotta get something though you can make a pipe axle out of 1.5 ID black pipe from home depot. think that works out to 1.9 OD. for collars you can get some cheap screw collars, shaft clamp collars from mcmaster carr, or just a bunch of duct tape. no good for a comp bur, perfectly ok for training.
