Race To Lift The Inch Dumbbell

I figured the Inch Dumbbell also deserved it's own "Race to" thread to motivate each other and share training advice.

I recently decided to invest in my own Inch Replica and Sorinex Bosco Bell (currently loaded to 140lbs). Here's some of my better attempts with both bells from tonight's workout:

140lb. Bosco Bell w/5lb plates on the globes:

i'm in bro... currently can get a full tilt on Kody Burn's inch bell.. next time i'm up there i'm hoping for some air

I would guess the bosco with those 5's has to be really close to the inch. that's a very controlled lift.

I would like to join i have been thinking of making my own,

I put a 3 inch pipe over one of my dumbells but it only holds

100lbs i do bent over rows with it alot. Does anyone no how to

make one? or have the exact dimentions and weight?

I have a Gracie (145# or so) that I can get a few inches on in a good day. Negatives/holds seem a lot easier than breaking it off the ground.

This video explains how I made my adjustable plate loaded Inch trainer that I started with. The handle is black pipe and doesn't really take chalk that well...so it keeps you honest.

definitely gotta take you up on that soon. I was planning on concentrating on the RT for a couple months so hopefully that will help me get closer to the inch. Maybe if I really improve on the RT, I can give your inch a try in a couple months.

I only have a bosco bell loaded to 150, no inch replica, though in the future I do plan to get one when funds allow but I am in for lifting my bell with added weight and later heavier with melted down lead.

Strong lifting

This is still a goal of mine so I"m in. I got about as close as you did at the end of my last contest and should have another chance in october for my next one. It will give me some more motivation to start training thickbar again. I just have rolling thunder to train thickbar + manus grips. Good luck to everyone hopefully we get several people lifting that beast in this thread.

That's great to here! With your size and strength already, it probably wouldn't surprise anyone if you were able to lift it right now while you were fresh and not after a grip comp when you were already spent.

John, it looks like you are just a good day away from a full lift. Have you tried lifting the DB with the handle in a different orientation?

In my experience, it is harder to lift the DB the way you are doing it (like a barbell DL).

I discussed that with John, Bob. He had a prior injury that he is being careful with, which is smart IMO. I think John will get a lift with the inch before I even get my back fully healed up. :laugh

Ahhh, ok, i was wondering why John was making it more difficult. He looks like he's poised to finish it off very soon.

It's out of stock at jackals gym, I contacted Jason Adamski before for a quote as there is a place in ND that I could have it shipped to but I just didn't have the $605 USD to spare. I may or may not try to get one in the near future, if I can find a friend to go on a road trip to MN, it'd be a done deal.

I don't have am inch replca, but I've got one of those Holle dumbbells that ironmind use to make. If that's acceptable, I'm in, because I've been meaning to start training on that thing anyway. Haha.

Well I contacted Jason A. from MN who makes the bells Jackals Gym was selling, paying him a sum of money to hold an inch replica for me, and I will pay the remainder when I have the extra cash, a buddy in Winnipeg will take me to Minnesota to pick it up when I can travel down south. Don't want to count my chickens before they've hatched but it seems I will be the proud owner of an Inch replica in a handful months, hopefully.

Thanks Bob.....I tore my right bicep last year, so I guess I've made it a habit to use a fully pronated grip whenever possible. To be honest, I didn't realize the way I was doing it was harder. I'll have to experiment now!

If the pronated style you are using is preventing injury and you're making progress, there is no big hurry to finish off the Inch.
