I would love to know what the pinch block is going to be exactly.

I have a picture of the block that we will be using at The Southern Squeeze. It is approximately the same radius as a 45 plate, 2.25" thick and made out of strong aluminum alloy. It weighs 2lbs and connects to the top of a loading pin. It has a texture applied to the gripping surface to mimic seasoning, since it does not corrode. I'm calling it The Flask. More information on them soon to come. ;)

why don't you sand blast it, and it will always hold the chalk, and you won't have to worry about texture paint coming off.

It is sanded with a rough grit to apply the texture. No coating involved. Great minds think alike .

Over the years "seasoning" has been discussed many times. The problem as we all know is consistency. I'm interested to see how results compare with a seasoned Euro of steel. The design is of course different and may in itself give an advantage or disadvantage compared to the round plates and pipe design. But the Alum surface is very interesting.

Everyone! I have updated the location. Someone told me that when they typed in RESILIENT it's taking people to their old location even though address is there. Make sure you type in 204 Ward Circle Brentwood. Sorry guys. Call me at 615-426-9574 if you have trouble.

This was an awesome contest.

Also there was an appearance by the man once known as Silverback. Mad respect to the guy for what he did by proving that he is real; nothing fake about him!

Just got back and thought I'd write a little bit about the Southern Squeeze contest. Have you ever been too tired to sleep? That's where I'm at right now. Also, I know a lot of people are hungry for any info at all.

Gil and Maria did an absolutely amazing job with all parts of the contest. It was very well-run and extremely organized, but the most impressive thing to me was the promotion they did. I've never seem a contest bring out so many very strong newcomers. I was expecting them to get a high amount of new people, as you could tell how professional and committed they were to making the contest as good as possible for all and making everyone's experience in all phases along the way a positive one. What surprised me was the quality of competitors, simply stunning!

I would like to echo the sentiments of John McCarter re: Decimus; I thought he'd do well in grippers, but was great overall too. Now I'm sleepy, so will write more later.

I'd like to throw out a huge thanks to Gil and Maria for spoiling me on my first grip contest :) It was an awesome event and ran very smoothly imo. I had an awesome time and had a lot of great advice given to me on different implements and I appreciate all who helped me with that. I don't think there was a single competitor that wasn't impressive. It was apparent that everyone brought their A game because it was exciting for sure and I'm not talking about the flying 20 lb sledgehammer head ;) .

I would like to say thank you so much to all of the competitors that came out and all of you that supported The Southern Squeeze. I am working on posting the results right now, I will have that info up shortly and I will post a more exhaustive list of thanks as well, since so many people helped us organize such a great and fun event.

Sundin under 80kbs??? You guys coat that thing with motor oil?

I became the official chalker of the Flask at the event. It is a killer pinch device.

The flask was 2.5 inches thick, right? And had a coating mimicking seasoning?

I can't speak for anyone else but the device was easy, beyond ease actually to get chalk to stick, this was on a brand new Flask. Holds chalk so well. The feel in width was the same as my euro. I was pulling almost the same amount as I would for a 1 hand attempt on the euro.

I feel the Flask is better than a Euro considering it takes less time to adjust the weight, it feels about the same; it's different but it felt so good and I just can't put how that is into words.

The Flask is 2.25" and is bare aluminum that is sanded to a very specific texture to mimic light rust (since aluminum doesn't rust). There is no coating, because I wanted to avoid the issues that IronMind has had in the past with their implements textures changing over time.
