Frank Pizzo
So I decided to buy some steel today since all I had left was literally about 25 Red nails. I wanted to get some various steel. Some harder on the kink than a red, and some stuff easier on the crush for practicing. I bought several kinds of steel rods, and a few bolts from Tractor Supply Company this morning, then did a short bending session after I finished training grip. This is the first time I've tried bending 3/8 x 7" stock. I attempted a 3/8 x 6" Grade 2 about a month and a half ago but was only able to get a very slight wobble out of it. The kink on this piece of steel felt like my absolute max. I've never had anything bend so slowly all the way through until now. I had to give it everything I had just to get it down to 4.5"! Here is the video (it ended abruptly because my wife's phone ran out of memory): Thanks for taking a look.

JoshW
Try separate days for crushing maybe I know that works for some? Kink a few down and then leave the crush for another day, regardless man I wouldn't call it a weak link

EJ Livesey
now you have a very nice iso bar. keep coming back to it until you finally kill it. I have always like HRS for this very reason, the big arch makes it tough all the way through
Frank Pizzo
now you have a very nice iso bar. keep coming back to it until you finally kill it. I have always like HRS for this very reason, the big arch makes it tough all the way through Will definitely follow your advice and keep trying to crush this hunk of steel further. How often would you advise I train ISO crushes with this bar ...I usually bend once a week...sometimes I wait 10 or 14 days depending on how I feel, but usually once a week. Is it appropriate to do something this taxing every workout since I bend so infrequently, or do you think its too much. I know you will likely say I need to try it myself and find out, but the reason I ask is because, as a for instance, I wouldn't try to max out a lift continuously each workout, but an ISO seems like i would essentially be trying to max out. Any advice you give will be much appreciated. Thanks EJ
EJ Livesey
Ideally an ISO should be 70% to start if you are not used to doing isos. Keep it generally weak and build up from there. Remeber isos are very dangerous and I don't recomended going over 70% to start. I'd say 3-5 sets of 5-7 seconds twice a week. Then slowly push harder or longer or both. Still bend once a week but try to space it out by at least a day.
