Steve, I am not (obviously) an experienced strength athlete, but from what I've read I think DL 2x weekly is too often for most people, unless you recover quickly or maybe if you are a complete beginner and are using very light weights (for you). I can only handle them about every two weeks or so. Also, most will tell you that high reps are dangerous in the DL due to form breakdown as fatigue sets in near the end of the set. Some can handle it and thrive, so YMMV. You might want to ask Jedd, Smitty or Eric. Are you using a double overhand grip for your DLs? Your Blob work looks outstanding. You WILL lift the Blob. Keep up the good work! Edited April 24, 2008 by odin

Keep up the good work! thanks Bob I gotta say out of all the strength training lifting Block weights is the most fun cant wait to get the 45 lb to a full deadlift and then the 50 BLOB! for the Deadlifts I use double overhand most of the time because it also works the grip very nicely but I think that two Deadlift days a week might be too much with all the Squats I plan on doing I might just do deadlits once a week

knyaz
Friday Squats 135 x 10 165 x 12 feeling pretty good with the Squats now, hoping to start the x 20 routine soon and get my goal of 200 x 20 which I have been trying to do for a while but cant seem to commit fully to a workout schedule did some Blob work today definately feel much stonger because I have been doing Squats the past three weeks.. 40 lb x 3 each hand came up easily than 40 by the face 42.5 lb x 3 added 2.5 lb magnets on each side of the 42.5 got that to a full deadlift as well - on to the 45lb BLOB came up a few inches, both times left hand feels much stronger on this lift for some reason very happy that the 45 is finally coming off the ground did some negatives with the 45, Im pretty sure that my 45 feels almost as hard as the BLOB50 I own, its hard to explain but grip vise I like the fnish on the BLOb 50 much more BLOB 50 my hands feel much stonger than before the BLOB 50 moved about a half inch off the ground or so both hands than did some work with the BLOB 50 using a mattress to see how long I can hold it for

knyaz
Spread the squat and DL workouts out, maybe Tuesday and Friday or the like.Good stuff, keep it up. How much do you weigh? Yeah I think that would be a good idea as the Deadlifts are a killer Im thinking of hitting Squats twice a week and Deadlifts once I also have Chest x1 a week and back and Biceps x 1 workout a week my weight is slowly going up, Im at 163 lb right now Im thinking with the Heavy lifting Deads, Squats, Bench Press, Dips, Rows..... Id like to gradualy get up to 180 or so
Matt Brouse
Not that you asked but I would advise squatting once and deadlifting once. Especially if you are doing a legitimate 20 repper and then doing a 5x5 in the dead. You might even think of DLing every other week, depending on how you recover from them after doing a 20 repper. Keep busting your ass either way.
knyaz
thanks Matt, thats probably a good idea squat once and Deadlift once, that should be the ticket to getting the poudages up Im starting to write all my work down so im getting serious about this now
