I am wondering if we neglect some "classic grip feats" nowadays. If I think about classic grip feats I think about thickbar (Inch), plate pinch, hub Lifting, Blob, COC Grippers…  but maybe we a missing out something that was a classic grip feat in the past?

I don't see a lot of people trying the brick stack lift like Herman Görner was great at. Ironmind actually makes an implement called "The stacker" or something like that. However I don't think I've ever seen anyone using it.

I've been curious about this strength feat for a while. Going to try it if I can find some cheap bricks.

Good Point. I think the plate curl may be similar to the brick lift/stacker in terms of what kind of strength is needed. For spectators the brick lift would be a nice competition lift.

Yes, what plate should be considered world class though?

I've only seen two people plate curling a 20 kg/45 lbs plate. Adam Glass and Nathan Holle....

Seems like 15 kg/35 lbs should be considered very strong?

I just checked the format of the bricks described in Goerner the Mighty. I also read about the historical german formats of bricks. They are not identical, but close. One brick of "altes Reichsformat" should be about 3.8kg. It shouldn't be hard to get some old bricks of this format to try the orignal feat out.

I tried this today. I found some bricks. They were around 2.8 kg each. I managed four bricks plus the brick on the bottom. In total it was 13.75 kg. I'm not good at this, I can only plate curl 10 kg (olympic size) plates. It was fun trying it tho, I might train it just for fun. It's a good exercise after all.

It would be interesting to see if someone can beat Hermann in this!

When I worked construction the most popular "feats of strength" were sledge hammer lifts and levers, and plywood lifts.  Plywood lifts are rarely done in competition (I had it in the Gripmas Medley and it stopped many strong guys.)
