Sweet Bending Session Saturday

I had to take some time off to let a couple finger injuries heal up and it was worth it. I didn't want to start any more posts or threads until I had some serious progress and that time has come.

I'm hooked strictly on unbraced bending now and that's what I'm pursuing. I warmed up nice and slow up through the 60ds and G5 bolts then hit a 1/4 inch square in small suede pads and it felt good so I went for some more. Did things a little different this time and instead of working my way up through the max level bends, I started at something that would be my new record piece and a long shot at that and worked my way back down from there and it worked pretty good.

First up is 19/64 by 6.75 inch in IMPs and that went real good. Then I used some of my new suede and thought I'd try some heavy 8 inch stuff. Wraps were actually too thick and took me a while to get into position so I need to cut them a little more to get my speed up. Anyway, the piece in the pic that I'm proud of is 23/64 by 8 1/32 inch in the heavy suede. Now to be honest, it probably took me 10 to 15 minutes of fighting but I've never moved this steel before and I'm stoked. This is the steel a bunch of us bought off Ebay years ago and Eric cal'd a piece at either 590 or 595 for a 7 inch piece if I'm remembering right.

I was beyond stoked at finishing this piece of steel because I know now my strength is definitely improving and I'm probably at the best level of unbraced that I've ever been.

Anyway, next was a 11/32 by 7 11/16 bar that I killed in suede which was sweet because I was pretty tired at that point.

I couldn't stop there once you start breaking PR's so I decided to go back to the IMPs and try a piece of 21/64 at 7 11/32 long and I killed it in probably 30 seconds or under so I decided to try a Red nail and I finally got one in single IMPs. Took a little longer than 1 minutes but I was spent by this time.

I just couldn't stop though even though my hands were shot and blistered so I hit a "mutant" Sivaco 60d at #440 pounds and started working my way back down the 60ds and finally ended up with another 1/4 inch square.

Thanks guys.

I guess my next goal will be to get this piece of steel in under 5 minutes in "steel slayer" wraps.

Same time I want to get the 11/32 in IMPs.

I will bend the gold nail.

I found the old threads where that steel was cal'd. It hit 595 one time and another piece from the same supplier hit 560.

Thanks man. The goals will fall.
