Damn dewd...crazy close.

On a separate note...I'm surprised how much the handles are offset on the MM5.

Third was nice. Shame that you didn´t have cameraman. :cry

Strong work Tommy!

This was the best shot i could get of the last attempt. Looks pretty closed to me, but i can understand why there would be doubt with the camera, especially at such a high level of gripper. Great work tommy, this is yours next time. The only problem i see with having a cameraman is theres greater chance of them screwing something up, whether it be not getting the shot completely, bursting out laughing in the middle of the video for some reason, or doing something else stupid lol

Justout of curiosity, who are the judges besides wannagrip? Are we allowed to know or are their identities protected by the government or something

Nate, holy crap my hand looks sexy on the big screen! :cool

which attempt was that? the third one was closed sir. if i paused just right on youtube i got a better shot. just wasnt crystal clear. the handles are actually almost perfect mounts. my camera just doesnt do it any justice. check out Chez's and Juhas vids. the handles are even.

edit: on second though i guess it looks more like a zombie hand.. but a sexy zombie hand.

Third attempt...in regards to the handles...guess it must be an angle issue.

Haha Tommy...SZH (sexy zombie hand) you should have that added under your name... MM4, CoC 3, KOAB, Red Nail, SZH

Think about that a little more man...it's probably best that the judges are anonymous.

While I was annoyed at the time I failed my MM0, in time, I realized it's our job as closers to not just close the gripper...but be able to prove it (otherwise why video it at all?).

I almost failed my MM2 due to a lighting issue...but thankfully they hung in there until they found something they could stand behind.

The whole system with the MashMonsters rely on volunteers...and they carry out their duties on a thankless job with zero pay...and only hear about it if they make a close call.

If I was(or am? hah) a judge, I know I would prefer to remain anonymous.

I think it's best we avoid the situation of "grudges for judges."

Woops I was misunderstood...I wasn't going hard on the judges at all. I know they do it for free and it's a thankless job...I was just genuinely curious who they are. But you make a good point. I would want to remain anonymous. So that being said, I think they're doing a great job.

Naw...I didn't think you were being hard on them...just saw it as an opportunity to acknowlege their efforts in addition to addressing the anonymity.

lol, thanks fellas.

that area has always been my best lighting in the house for filming a gripper close. but i just noticed i have a burnt bulb there.

oh well. i'll see if i can get with Eric on my next attempt. he can for sure film a good close. that and ill make sure and get stronger for a more dominant close.

word. the judges are legit.

Tommy, you did one of your certs outside. That is generally awesome lighting. Bathrooms are also generally very good.

Anthony, another tool (which is still subjective) is to invert the colors on the still. It turns dark into light and there seems to be daylight between the handles. This is the still you posted.

Also Tommy, you're a class act. The power is clearly there. Better lighting and a stiff breeze in the right direction and you'd be MM5.

I don't judge the attempts these days. Also, they judges are more than qualified and have been judging attempts for many years as an aggregate. I think all if not the majority of the judges will be in The Grip Well if that says anything. :)

The judging and strictness Wanna is what makes these certs legit. I definitely can't wait until I can make a go at things :rock

Very good attempts Tommy on that heavy gripper. You have become very strong in still a very short timeframe. Everything's said on the filming already. You keep your mind on the gripper, the other person films. That's what will make you close it next time.

Hey that's a shame Tommy, but I can understand your point...for us Europeans it's even more frustrating, specially with customs and all.

Unpredictable delivery which no one has influence on. Except customs heh...

Problem is also that I bought a wagonload of popcorn and coke for watching the video. I'm holding you responsible for those costs ok.

Its been 6 days since my request for MM5. I also sent Matt a pm about it yesterday, and have heard nothing.

Since i cant stay ready for MM5 at all times, for an indefinite amount of time, im gonna go ahead and cancel my request for it.

Ha, thank you dude

Tommy, I sent you a PM as well. My subscription to the queue thread expired (I think any subscription is only good for a few years and then they drop off). I'm sorry I didn't get a notification or notice you had posted there. The gripper can go out today if you're interested.

Lol, yeah thats a bummer for you guys. I have considered this in the past, and honestly dont know how you guys do it. To me, it seems near impossible to stay at a max level anything in regards to strength for a month +. for me, staying at a max level for up to a week is a chore. At least in regards to grip(per) strength. And after that i need to back off or things get painful.

Well, I'm just level one, level two I could do know but that's nowhere near the following levels. Any guy keeping his strength up for such a long time like Vano did waiting for his for level 7 attempt is just sick.

Keeping strength up from level 3 and further for weeks is very difficult indeed.

Dude, honestly, i dont even think MM7 is a max for Vano.. Lol That guy is a nut. But yes, if he actually had to concentrate on keeping his strength up for MM7, that is pretty amazing that he did it for a month. From what i understand, he actually closed the MM7 (easily) while he had a nagging injury of some sort?

I think Juha is in the same boat. On a decent day, he would smash MM7 as well. Kind of makes me wonder if the wait was what threw him off on the MM7.

That sucks Tommy, I know you've been going after this one for a while. Looking forward to seeing you smash it soon.

Thank you brother!

I have been chasing MM5 for some time now. But, im on a bit of a hiatus, so to speak, in regards to following advice for training for it..

There are a handful of tools i could incorporate that may actually boost things along that i refuse to try for a while..

One being a full body training regime. I am determined to see how far i can climb without training my entire body along side of grip. Although i have had a few stints of heavy training along the way, multiple times. But typically for only about 2 weeks or so before i get tired of it. Lol

Another is KTA. Im anxious to try that out as well, but as above, im determined to see how far i go without any of that.

So far i have sort of plugged along without forcing myself to get more involved in training for it.

So, before too long, i'll try another ramp up (or over training, rather) with the grippers and sign up again. And if i miss it, again, then i'll try one of or both of the above methods.

I'm the same way, I peak for a short time, about a week or two the strength goes back down. Slow and steady and you'll get it for sure. Plus, filming a gripper close is like making a porno, you gotta have a camera man to get the best shots.
