As a former Penn State football player, I am super jealous. Looks like the players are in for a bit of fun. Top of the line by Sorinex with a few grip toys sprinkled in. I got to play in a Sorinex rack at Andrew Durniat's gym. They are incredible tools for strength training.

Wow, what a gym! Those powerracks really look top-of-the-line. I love the details with the penn state text on the plates. Wouldn't mind training there, that's for sure :-)

I have personally working on some prototypes of grip tools made for real world use(simple and they work) in the USA right in our shop. I have a few new pieces that from a "been there" standpoint think other gripsters will be very pleased....and for a great price! Stay tuned! it's coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When you think you have tried everything, something simple is combined with another simple thing and..............BOOOM! The Mighty Mitts line is growing each day! I have a new version of my old plate loaded gripper (did a 1000 reps a day with 100lb. back in the 70s) that really works with unlimited versatility in the manner you want to load and train your grip. First is done, feels great and is soon to be released.

First 6 being made to allow for testing. Darn it feels nice , If I had it "in the day" things might have gone better even on the recovery/rehab end. R Sorin

Richard,

The weight room looks outstanding! The grip aspect is great and much needed.

As a PSU fan since I was 4 years old watching with my grandfather, it is nice to see them with some FREE WEIGHTS and a strength coach who has them busting their butts.

the previous strength coach had them workin hard for sure just not as much on free weights.

I do not believe that there is a single athlete that shouldnt be using free weights to increase their strength. I guess I am old skool, but my athletes and my own kids never use machines. My 8 year old son does squats, deadlifts, and OH presses.

It may be rumor, but I always heard they did HIT with machines with little emphasis on free weight. Every football player should be free weight squatting, IMO. I also heard players would sneak off campus to hit gyms with free weights, but again this may be rumor...

At any rate, the new weight room is awesome and I can just picture waves of athletes smoking back squats, front squats, cleans, and the like!

i played there. all that is true. the HIT was very hard. i always felt adding off campus training didnt allow enough recovery. the only day for rest was sundays.

i agree about free weights vs. machines.

The entire room and mind set has changed at Penn State. There is going to be tons of squats, cleans pulls and all the explosive free weight lifts you can think of. The coach is young with old school values and "new school " science and techniques.

On another note the first 5 new oldschool grippers are going out today to some grip friends and standouts. R Sorin

I hope when the titans of grip get a hold of the device they will have some feedback. Good or bad it worked for me. R Sorin

I saw the first 5 go out today snuggled in their boxes. I always liked varying my hand position on a plate loaded gripper to an almost two handed(hands facing each other) pinch style( gotta work that thumb!) and always tried to figure out an "easy way" to get a smooth overload during my closing strength curve. The way the thing is built allows for this in addition to what many of the standard variations offer. I wonder how that original plate loaded gripper I built in the 70's ever got away from me! It was honed to being glass smooth from tens of thousands of repititions. I remember having it on site up to about 7 years ago. R.Sorin
