Tim71
Decided to leave the cut steel for a workout and hit some spikes unbraced tonight. Couple of huge PRs tonight and you'll see the results in the photo. First is a Sivaco 60d, then a 395 pound 70d, then a 445 pound 70d then I hit the 80ds. The first spiral spike wasn't too hard then the second one is a little thicker and cal'd at 295. Next was a PR. The shiny thicker spiral 80d and I got it in about 2 minutes. Next up, the thickest spiral 80d that cal'd at 450. Decided to try the 10mm 80d at the top and got it to around 90 degrees and fought it way too long. Went to the galvanized 80d that's bent a little further and it had cal'd at 505. Next up, I tried the 10 inch by 3/8 inch shiny spike unbraced and got it in a couple minutes. I was stoked. Finally found a true 3/8 shiny griprite and got it way off center and followed it up with another that was even. All in all a great night bending something a little different. An unbraced 80d has been a goal of mine for a while and it's good to finally get it.
Durrs
Looks like a hell of a workout. Road to Gold brother, keep it going!
Tim71
Thanks a ton. It was a great workout and I'm trying different tactics to "shake things up" you might say. My goal is to get some movement out of the Gold before my 43rd birthday and that's this Sunday. So Saturday will be the big day where I hit it for all it's worth. I've gotten a very small kink out of one a couple months back so hopefully I can get more now. Now in order to cert on the Gold, I think I need to put my hands on our gravel driveway and let my wife run over them with our SUV. It's going to take that kind of hand toughness along with goofy strength to cert on that thing. Edited July 25, 2014 by Tim T
Frank Pizzo
Wow Tim that was quite a night for bending! Awesome stuff man! Good luck Saturday with the Gold, I can't wait to see a picture of one with a bend in it!
Tim71
I'm going to video it but I've tried 3 times now to download the 5.5 inch G5 I bent for David Horne's list and it's not been successful. Literally after several hours downloading it just locks up. Any videos I do will have to be very short. By the way, if anybody is thinking about hughesnet as a internet provider, they are what I use and you can see the trouble I have. If I can get the gold moving, I know I can get it to 90 degrees. That is where the trouble starts for me. Edited July 26, 2014 by Tim T
MANTHOS
Great bends and congrats for the PRs! A 5.5'' G5 is world class. Good luck with the Gold.
Tim71
Thank you. So far I haven't done much to it other than a slight kink but I'm getting closer. It's a mean piece of steel though.
