Bending Steel Vs Bending Power Twisters (PTs)

I don't know much about bending steel, so this is more of a Q&A Thread.

Does anyone bend both Steel and PTs and can state any carry over? I've got a PT that's rated at 50 kg , but I'm semi-curious about the steel bending sport and where someone who could tns a gripper rated at 125 lbs rgc 1-2 times and does other weight lifting training like bench/dumbbell press, curls (regular & reverse), wrist roller etc. should start at.

How strong would one have to be to do what Alex Pritula by bending a blue nail bare handed in 15 seconds?

And how expensive are steel nails generally? Like if I wanted 3 of each IronMind & FBBC nail for example. The PT I don't plan on selling (in fact I plan to get stronger ones) since it's seems very similar to steel except you can do DO & DU multiple times in opposition to bending it once.

A strong upper back would help with bending. The main way to get stronger at bending is to bend steel. Just look through the forum because it is all covered here. Watch EJ's pinned videos.

Buy some 60d nails from your local hardware store and buy some ironmind pads from Cannon $5 I think. This should get you started.

Alex is verrrry strong from what I seen and being strong is not only what is needed to bend barehanded. He also has tough hands and a crazy pain tolerance to accomplish this.

Ironmind.com will gouge you on shipping so if you want to get a few nails to try get them from FBBC or buy some stock from your hardware store ( Lowes, Home Depot, Fastenal) just one 3ft stick of 3/16" steel should do you to see if you will like it.

I know what this is now and I don't think it will hurt or help either way for bending. It seems like it will stress your shoulders more than anything

This is what my 50 kg PT looks like.

I got this about 5-6 months ago but just started using it as recently as last week. I can bend it DO about 15x and DU 5x.

The PT does work shoulders, but it's helped build forearms, triceps, biceps, some chest & wrist strength, especially doing both over/under hand bends. Though that's what I imagine bending steel could do too.

The hands are in much different positioning throughout each movement. One is close under neck (steel bending) and the other is out and away from the body. I would suggest getting some easy stock and looking through the pinned topics in this forum.
