Results from yesterday. Many new lifters and incredibly high level performances, especially in hub and blockbuster. First three events were qualifiers and top competitors proceeded to final three events, contested in Iisalmi marketplace. Videos are still being uploaded but for tasters, here is Jouni Mähönen doing new world record in thick bar time hold.

Videos from final events.

Axle

Adjustable thick bar

Silver bullet

Unfortunately weather was rainy and bit windy, so not much audience present. Other than weather, this contest was great!

Just curious why a 83k class (and not eg 80k or 90k) limit given the competition could not have been sanctioned by NAGS (eg more than 4 attempts in the axle)? I know NAGS adopted PL weigh classes so just curious. Nice to see strict judging in the axle. The Finns and the Russians have easily the strictest judging in the axle DO deadlift.

We have used 83kg so much that changing it seems pointless. One added benefit is that David has 83kg class in his record lists. With 90 or 93kg there would be risk of having Jouni in lighter weight class.

We used rising bar with preset weight-jumps for this competition since it is lot easier for new lifters. Judging was indeed top notch, once again. Thanks for compliments.

Jouni had awesome performance as per usual, bested known gripboard dudes in thick bar hold like former record holders mobsterone and gripmonster, living legend contestant Arto Joronen came second with good time also.
