mgalovic Posted August 23, 2016 Share Posted August 23, 2016 (edited) When I first got my HG250 gripper it made no sound while I was using it. I've been leaving it in my car. One day it started making a rubbing sound like the spring was rubbing when I used it. It did that for 2 or 3 days and then went back to making no sound. I think while it was rubbing it may have been harder to close. Makes sense to me that if the spring began rubbing against the adjacent coil that the resistance would increase. The only thing I can think of that may have caused this change in the coil would be the changing atmospheric pressure and temperature. This leads me to believe that the very same gripper could be easier or harder to close, day to day, depending on the weather. Has anyone else noticed this? Adam Juncker Posted August 23, 2016 Share Posted August 23, 2016 I have a set of heavy grips I bought a year or so ago when I got into grip training. All the ones I can close 100-250 seem to make this sound at certain times. I even oil them occasionally with some Remington gun oil. I agree that they seem more difficult when the springs are rubbing. The springs look like they have a coating or possibly powder coating on them. That may be what the noise is all about. Yeah, the environment has an impact on metals, the more humid or hot the place is, the more soft the spring and in colder climates, the opposite effect will occur (more sturdy/stout spring) making the gripper more difficult to close. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
