Best Hand Lotion

There is some stuff farmers use in mid west that is best I have tried. Google or EBay Crack Cream. Great product!

Any hand wounds soak in Epsom salts and warm water( Dr. Teals is best ) and then Neosporin to speed healing and lessen possibility of infection. Loose bandaid. On first night you can get by "uncomfortable feeling "soak first and let air dry , sleep with no bandage.

Take care of your hands (skin) from the inside out with proper hydration and enough oil added to your diet. Even with all my climbing, grip, construction etc - I almost never need hand lotions of any kind.

This right here.

I take a teaspoon of olive oil almost everyday. It's gross but really helps my hands.

I use bacon grease when mine are particularly prone to splitting and that seems to work better than any product I've tried. I know it sounds weird but it just works for me. Just rubbing some into problem areas that have been tearing or splitting with pressure seems to soften them right up and keep them that way longer for me.

The "best" is possum fat. Back when I was a semi serious trapper, my hands took quite a beating - and skinning and stretching possum hides was the bomb for the best skin treatment ever - I even rendered some down as a hand lotion and it was better than any commercial product I could buy. Probably not going to be much help for most of you boys but just in case you get a chance :) now you know.

Btw, there was a big thread about Tuf-Foot a little while back. Do you guys who swear by Tuf-Foot use it with another lotion or just one?

Olive to bacon to possum fat, I'm not sure if you guys are just messing with me now. haha

Actually I'm not although I can understand why you'd think that. Somewhere I have read where the active ingredients for most hand lotions come from and you'd be surprised what you are buying (and how close it is to the things being talked about here).

Tuf foot is great for toughening skin. But it is far from a healing lotion. I eat a teaspoon of olive oil almost everyday. I'm not messing with you.

Amazing good information. Possum fat eh. The best idea I have heard in a while. Bear fat is the "do all grease" in the great North. I wonder if anyone has greased their gripper springs will possum renderings? Hmmmmmmmm

I suppose the bacon grease I sometimes use would be considered rendered as well since we save the drippings after cooking for later cooking or this purpose.
