Could you tell us a little about your background in lifting?
Started lifting weights in 2008. Discovered grippers in 2010, but didn't start training grip seriously until 2012..

How did you get into grip training?
When I became a police officer I almost had a suspect slip out of my hands, I knew at that point I needed to strengthen my grip.

You are now a GripBoard Mash Monster, what would you recommend to those aspiring to close this gripper?
Train consistantly. Don't just focus on grippers, strengthen your whole hand and your whole body.

What does your current grip routine look like?
I do gripper, 2HP, Axle and Blobs all on different days once a week and after a regular workout. I never train grip just on it's own, I always do it after a workout, I feel like the body is really ready for it after that.

How has your grip routine changed since you first started training your grip?
When I started I think I was just focused on grippers, now I'm more balanced.

There seems to be a significant variation in the frequency of grip workouts among trainees. Have you experimented with workout frequency and it’s affect on your training?
I think grip can be worked quite frequencly, but I wouldn't work the same aspect of grip back to back.

What are your favorite grip exercises?
thick bar and 2 hand pinch.

What kind of starting routine would you recommend for a trainee new to grip training?
The one David Horne and Chris Rice recommend; finger curls with a barbell, pinching plate with gloves, some sort of thick bar work and strengthen your wrists.

Who do you most admire in gripdom?
I started to list all of the grip people I admire and the list became too big.

If you were to start over again with your grip training, what would you do differently?
Just work with blobs or 2hp device and do finger curls with a barbell for about six months before touching a gripper.

What do you believe is the most difficult grip exercise?
Lifting the inch, you have to have not only a strong wrist and forearm but a powerful thumb to stop the rotation.

What are some of your personal bests in grip exercises?
Closing the MM1

What do you believe is the most common mistake made by new grip trainees?
Overtraining, not resting and starting to things to fast.

What do you consider to be the greatest grip feats of all time?
Mike Burke Axle lifts, Brian Shaw lifting blobzilla backwards.

Do you have any parting advice for readers?
Be consistent in your training, don't give up on your goals, take small steps towards your goal everytime you train.
